Description : Perl extension for 32 bit Jenkins Hashing Algorithm

The Digest::JHash module allows you to use the fast JHash hashing algorithm
developed by Bob Jenkins from within Perl programs. The algorithm takes as
input a message of arbitrary length and produces as output a 32-bit "message
digest" of the input in the form of an unsigned long integer.

See http://burtleburtle.net/bob/hash/doobs.html for more information.

bassemu~ is an object that simulates a transistor-based electronic
synthesizer. This serves as a emulation of an analogue bass synth. It
includes the obligatory filter, saw/rect/tri/sine waveform select, an
extra hi-pass filter. You can also feed another signal to its left
inlet, and filter that, either alone or mixed to the vco.

Also included is a small, messy gop abstraction to resemble a 16-step
 sequencer.

CDBS & Multiple source directories in a single source

2010-08-05 Thread Jonathan Lassoff
I'm looking at packaging a library that has a main source tree as well
as a couple of smaller libraries inside of a "contrib" directory. It's
mostly GNU autotools based, so I decided to use CDBS.

Currently, the smaller libraries don't get built or installed from the
top-level makefile, so I'd like to add them as separate binary
packages, but sharing a single source tree.

Is there a nice way to hook into CDBS or some debhelper scripts to go
into another directory and build another package after building the
top-level one?

Cheers,
Jonathan

  gitk | 1:1.7.1-1.1 | testing | all
  gitk | 1:1.7.1-1.1 | unstable | all

I wasn't aware of that possibility, you are of course right that I should
check for that before filing an RC bug. Still, cases like this deserve
investigation why we have two versions in the archive for such a long time.

with magic-haskell-doc there has been a mistake during package rename.
I’ve brought up the issue on debian-haskell.

I had seen that bugreport. However, that report was about using a
library which is not longer maintained upstream, which is not
exactly the same thing as being totally uninstallable in sid.
Though the root cause might be the same. Maybe it would be better
to rename the bug and increase severity in the future for cases like
this (there were more cases like this).

Re: RFH: How to compile swf files from source

Only those who specifically rely on Adobe's Flash authoring tools.
Anyone who uses Linux and builds their Flash files using free tools
will usually deal with plain text ActionScript (or other programming
language) and assets in normal media formats like JPEG, PNG, GIF, WAV,
MP3 etc.

Correct. This is a similar situation to a Microsoft Word document
being source for a HTML document except that we can't read or modify
FLA. Games have been rejected from Debian or moved to non-free before
because we cannot read or modify the "source code" for their data
component.

FLA is neither modifiable nor buildable with Debian.

I think that usually the AS would not be distributed like that,
normally it would be inside the FLA file. Perhaps the SWF only
consists of code and the AS is split out as a convenience. You might
try using mtasc on the AS file to see what you get as a result.

there were also cases of code-genearting tools (gob2 in my case) where
the package was built from the generated .c files instead the .gob
source files, and it happened that the .gob files were incompatible with
gob2 as shipped by Debian (they used unreleased features). I wanted to
change the program and could not. This particular issue has been fixed
by now, though, but it makes clear why building from source is
important.

Greetings,
Joachim

Re: Re: Re: Re: segmentation fault (a.o. in /u/s/debconf/frontend)

2010-08-05 Thread Fabian Greffrath

Dear Simon et al.,

thank you very much for your answers!

Do you have GLib 2.25.12-1 from experimental, which is known to be crashy
()?

Yes, you are exactly right. I forgot to mention in my first post that
the package mixture on my systems spans from testing over unstable to
experimental and indeed I had libglib from experimental installed for
some reason I don't remember. As soon as I downgraded to the version
in unstable again, I had a working xorg back. So this post is merely a
duplicate of #591075.

information for developers; if reportbug is among the things that crash,
it's possible to use any other email program, although the resulting bug
report will need more input from you (see http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting).

Yes, I know, but I had no idea which package to file the bug against
and so I hoped to get some hints from posting to -devel. You just gave
this hint, but since the corresponding bug report has already been
filed this issue is closed for me.

BTW, reportbug seems to have died, because I had the frontend set to
GTK2. Now it also works again.

Thanks again,
 - Fabian
