I downgraded apt, installed the ports keyring and upgraded apt. Now it
works again. Thanks!

Isn't this the same as the existing python-rbtools package:

ReviewBoard is a web application to handle code reviews.
This package provides post-review command-line utility that simplifies
both creating and updating review requests. It can look at your source
directory, generate a diff, and upload it to a new or existing review
request on an associated Review Board server.

Upstream releases it as separate source package, so we've separate debian

ifupdown news

2012-04-19 Thread Andrew Shadura
Hello,

A new version of ifupdown has been uploaded to experimental yesterday, which
brings some important changes.

First of all, now it's possible to specify default values for various
interface configuration options. This eliminates the need of hard coding
of them in C source, as Ubuntu has been doing for some time. End users
are not affected by this change at all, of course.

Second, now ifup behaves differently when it's called with --all option.
Previously, that was causing all interfaces marked as 'auto' to be brought
up. Now, it does exactly the same if --allow option isn't used. Otherwise,
it brings up the interfaces which are declared to belong to a specified
class using allow-* directive. In other words, 'auto' directive indeed
declares interface as belonging to a class 'auto', and the default class for
ifupdown is also 'auto', so when user runs `ifup -a` only those interfaces
are brought up.

Also, when called with --all, both ifup and ifdown now also call hook
scripts before doing anything and just after that. Specifically, before
bringing interfaces up, it calls pre-up scripts with a special interface
name and a special address family (which can't happen otherwise), and calls
post-up scripts after doing everything it needs. Same happens with ifdown,
but it calls different scripts, of course. This feature helps to avoid
manual parsing of /etc/network/interfaces and /run/network/ifstate as
mountnfs script did (and still does), for example. In theory, exactly none
of the existing scripts should be broken by this change. At least, I couldn't
find any of distribution-supplied scripts which could break. Also, Network
Manager already uses similar approach, so if anything can break, it's been
broken for a long time already.

One more change is related to the initscript. /etc/init.d/ifupdown is no
more. However, ifupdown now provides /etc/init.d/networking instead of
netbase. This means, the next version of netbase needs to drop it, and
also setting up Breaks relationship would be cool. The script itself has
been changed a bit. Apart from other things, now it supports reload command
properly, grabbing the current interfaces state and bringing those interfaces
back up. Also, start command now tries to bring up interfaces which are
specified with 'allow-hotplug' if they can be brought up.

Cool news for Ubuntu maintainers and everyone else interested: now ifupdown
supports ifquery interface previously available in Ubuntu only. It has some
bugs fixed, and now seems to work properly with mappings and already-up
interfaces.

Finally, /run transition has almost finished, so please if you opened any
related bugs, please test and report if they still need fixing.

Also, this version (with one more bug discovered while preparing this post
fixed) is going to be upload to unstable as soon as enough people test it
to be sure it's not going to Break Everything At All. In that upload, I
plan to temporarily unapply a controversial patch already discussed on
debian-devel@ which changed the processing of hook scripts' return values.

Please do test and report any bugs you find.

And, of course, a short summary of the changes:

  * Prefer isc-dhcp-client to dhcp3-client (also closes: #422885).
  * Let dhclient fail when no lease can be acquired (Closes: #420784).
  * Raise command-line options priority over /etc/network/interfaces
(Closes: #657743).
  * Prevent aliases and VLANs from putting the main interface down
(Closes: #656270).
  * Make iproute2 calculate the broadcast address (LP: #924880).
  * Shut udhcpc down correctly (Closes: #338348).
  * Update the rules according to /run migration.
  * Pass hardening flags from dpkg-buildflags (Closes: #661243).
  * Implement ifquery interface (Closes: #568479).
- Make ifquery process mappings (LP: #850166).
- Ensure ifquery always has no_act turned on.
  * Change --all behaviour:
- If ifup or ifquery is called with the --all option, if doesn't just
bring up all interfaces marked as "auto", but all interfaces of a
specified class, "auto" by default. For the most uses, this doesn't
change anything, but lets all the interfaces of a specific class to be
  brought up or queried.
  * Support cross-compilation, move Debian-specific things out of
the Makefile (Closes: #666084).
  * Take networking init script over from netbase package.
- Add reload action which reconfigures all interfaces currently
  configured.
- Add LSB Description field.
- Remove /usr from PATH.
- Merge ifupdown initscript in.
- Improve warning messages.
- Don't use redirection hacks when parsing /proc/mounts and /proc/swap.
- Document all supported subcommands.
- On start, try to configure hotplug interfaces if they seem to be ready.
Ignore errors if they fail to configure for some reason (for example,
if the interface happens to be renamed by udev before it's fully
  configured).
- Override Lintian's false

It fails to handle the case where something provides a virtual facility,
at least. It also seems to think that /etc/init.d/../rc2.d/S30gdm3 on
my system is «corrupt or invalid», without further information. (It's
for some reason a normal file rather than a symlink, but I don't see why
that should matter.)

systemd is perfectly able to cope. It doesn't care about the numbering,
but uses the dependency information from the header of the script
instead and only uses S/K to determine whether a service should be
running or not.

What I'm complaining about is it's continued insistence on trying to
convert to another way of ordering the links when it's unable to do so,
especially when said complaining is in the form of a debconf error on
each and every upgrade of the package.

When you run ./manage.py syncdb, Django will look for any new models that
have been defined, and add a database table to represent those new models.
However, if you make a change to an existing model, ./manage.py syncdb
will not make any changes to the database.

This is where Django Evolution fits in. Django Evolution is an extension
to Django that allows you to track changes in your models over time, and
to update the database to reflect those changes.

I need this package because ReviewBoard depends on it (#653113)

PS. I'm aware that it was removed from debian some times ago

FYI, ppmd (at least variants H and I) is used in 7zip. Similar code to
read/write 7zip is found in libarchive (and thus bsdtar). Libarchive has
been ported to a wide range of systems. I think the same is true for 7zip.

So there are alternatives.

Bug#669404: ITP: alembic -- lightweight database migration tool for SQLAlchemy

2012-04-19 Thread Matthias Kümmerer
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: "Matthias Kümmerer"

* Package name: alembic
  Version : 0.3.1
  Upstream Author : Mike Bayer
* URL : https://bitbucket.org/zzzeek/alembic
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : lightweight database migration tool for SQLAlchemy

Alembic is a new database migration tool, written by the author
of SQLAlchemy. A migration tool offers the following functionality:
 .
  * Can emit ALTER statements to a database in order to change the
structure of tables and other constructs
  * Provides a system whereby "migration scripts" may be constructed;
each script indicates a particular series of steps that can
"upgrade" a target database to a new version, and optionally a
series of steps that can "downgrade" similarly, doing the same
steps in reverse.
  * Allows the scripts to execute in some sequential manner.

Bug#669390: O: ppmd -- fast archiver program with good compression ratio

2012-04-19 Thread Guillem Jover
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Continuing with my intention to try to match my current dissatisfaction
with the project with my dedication to it, I've just orphaned the ppmd
package.

The package just got ported recently to 64-bit systems so builds for
those systems need to be hand-held for now as that's not reflected
on P-a-s yet.

The package description is:
ppmd predicts the probability of a given character based on the
characters that immediately precede it (as all PPM compressors,
see also Markov Chains and Context Modeling). This archiver
should be better than zip, gzip, bzip2, zzip, szip and ppmz(2)
 at compressing files.

regards,
guillem

Could you provide examples please? If there are init scripts which
it can't handle, that's a bug. Either in insserv or (more likely)
the scripts.

This has been partly discussed in #594917, but you haven't
followed up there in response to the last comment.

Based on this bug, I think it's perfectly reasonable for sysv-rc
to manage the links; whether sysvinit is or is not running is not
part of the question here, IMO. Given that systemd users are for
the most part going to be users migrating from a sysvinit/sysv-rc/
insserv configuration, it's not unexpected that insserv will be
managing the links. systemd should be able to cope with
insserv managing the links shouldn't it?

Roger

users and other developers than to continue blocking people. It's also
better for the developer involved to get away from the feelings of

This isn't aimed at the WINE maintainers (I didn't read the bug report,

what can we do if the maintainer doesn't admit his lack of time or his

have procedures to take over a package, others than convincing the
maintainer.

A couple of times I've said "It looks like you could use some help. Would you
like me to co-maintain with you?" and have generally gotten a positive
response. If it's put in terms of "Looks like you're busy, I can help" and

Scott K
Such unpoliteness may happen, but I belief in the case of WINE it does
not go in that direction, even if some users / developers would not mind
if the tone would get a bit harsher there (let's face it, the situation
was bad for years and still is, even if *some* progress is made now).
Anyway, up to now, officially, afaik Ove was kindly asked several times
if he needs help but he is a bit reluctant to just accept that help
unconditionally. In his pov to built good WINE-packages some effort has
to be made and others would likely just "hack" something together. He
has seen such things in the past, so he wants others to prove first that
they have quality in mind too. One could argue if Oves standards are too
high (at least for some / most users), but that IS the right of every
maintainer and at least I prefer quality over fast-shots.
That said, the WINE-situation is somewhat peculiar and after reading the
mentioned bug-report and this thread with parts of its offspring "what
to do if a maintainer is lacking...", I have to say the *situation* (not
any individual involved) just sucks! :)

It is just not that simple here... at least in the WINE-situation. I am
just a user and not deeply involved (apart from a bugreport here and
there no involvement at all) in Debian but I truely hope most MIA / QA /
TC situations are a lot simpler! :)

Michael

Not having sysv-rc complain when it can't wrap its head around the init
scripts on the system would be very much appreciated. I'm kinda tired
of it trying to convert my system on each upgrade and then failing.
(And this machine has never even used sysvinit.)

Description : library for serialising LV2 atoms to/from Turtle

Sratom is a new C library for serialising LV2 atoms to/from Turtle.
It is intended to be a full serialisation solution for LV2 atoms,
allowing implementations to serialise binary atoms to strings and
read them back again. This is particularly useful for saving plugin
state, or implementing plugin control with network transparency.
Sratom uses Serd and Sord to do the work, it is a small library
implemented in a single source file, suitable for direct inclusion
in projects if avoiding a dependency is desired.

That would require that the tech-ctte's decisions do not take months or
years. They are fast if they really need to be, but in such general
cases the time a descision takes is imho way too long and frustrating
for all involved people. I would prefer a solution which involves the
ctte only if there is no other way.

Sure, I can appreciate that we still need the upgrade logic.
But, do we need the debconf question? Surely we can just
migrate unconditionally (or attempt to, at least).

(I don't know if you saw my mail regarding having done this
provisionally in git; I mentioned it on the pkg-sysvinit-devel

how safe it would be to remove the is_unsafe_to_activate check
and just run insserv anyway, and rely on insserv to fail if

It is still needed in two use cases.

 1) Machine upgraded from Lenny where the migration was not done.
Either because it could not be done, or because the user choose
not to do it.

 2) Machines switching to/from file-rc.
