Hey mailman(3) friends,

The Debian Mailman Team needs some help.

We (Jonas and Pierre-Elliott) packaged mailman3 components and
dependencies and maintain the packages since a few years. Unfortunately,
lately, considering the increasing requirements to maintain the packages
in good shape, particularly because of their dependencies, we are
finding ourselves lacking of the appropriate time to do it in a timely
manner, which makes handling bugreports et al harder than what we would
like.

Also, while we both still run Mailman3 instances, a broaded contributor
environment would be better.

The mailman3 packages consist of the following:

* mailman3: the "delivery engine", a daemon written in python3, along
with some MTA (mail transport agent) integration.
* mailmanclient: the official Python3 bindings for Mailman3's REST API
* postorius, hyperkitty: webinterface/web archive, django components.
* django-mailman3: the common component for both Postorius and
   HyperKitty
* mailman3-web: wsgi daemon for the django web application with quite
some configuration magic and webserver (apache, nginx) integration.
* various dependencies: mostly python3 libraries or django components

So we're looking for you if you:

* happen to run mailman3 instances and have some spare cycles
* want to give your share to keep mailman3 packages in Debian
* are keen to get your hands dirty in python packages which touch a lot
   of different packaging aspects

We're looking forward to you as a new Mailman3 Team member.

Kind regards
 Jonas & Pierre-Elliott

The mpl_animators package provides a set of classes which allow the easy
construction of interactive matplotlib widget based animations. “Out of

arrays, with sliders to control the animation automatically added for
all dimensions not on the axes of the plot.

It is a new build dependency of the sunpy and ndcube packages. I will
maintain it within the Debian Astro team in Salsa:

Bug#998243: ITP: lg-gpio -- Control GPIO pins via the kernel's gpiochip device interface

2021-11-01 Thread Dave Jones
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Dave Jones

* Package name: lg-gpio
  Version : 0.2.0.0-1
  Upstream Author : https://github.com/joan2937/lg
* URL : https://abyz.me.uk/lg
* License : public-domain
  Programming Lang: C, Python
* Vcs : https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/packages/lg-gpio
  Section : electronics
Description : Control GPIO pins via the kernel's gpiochip device interface

This package provides a comprehensive userspace GPIO interface akin to
libgpiod (which is already in Debian), but crucially with additional
methods for performing PWM (and other interfaces).

This makes it a viable replacement for RPi.GPIO (also in Debian) both in
scripts that directly use that library, as well as those using gpiozero
(again, already in Debian). In the latter case, the current Debian
version of gpiozero (1.4 in stable) relies upon RPi.GPIO as its pin
driver. However from 1.6 onwards (in unstable) it also supports lg-gpio
as a (preferred) pin driver (though I don't think the patch for
preferring lg is currently in the Debian version of the packaging).

I'm happy to maintain this package as part of the Python team (although
the Raspi team might seem more appropriate, there's nothing Raspberry Pi
specific in lg-gpio).

A request for sponsorship is (possibly prematurely!) open in #990280.

cannot reproduce autopkgtest regression on armhf arch

2021-11-01 Thread Jerome BENOIT

Hello,

the osmnx package is current blocked because of an autopkgtest regression on
armhf arch .
It is a serious bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=995021

It appears that I cannot reproduce the issue on the porter box amdahl .
I tried directly by hand and with the dd-autopkgtest script written by Michael
Banck

Any suggestion to step further ?

Cheers,
Jerome

Debian Med video conference tomorrow, Tuesday 2021-11-02 18:00 UTC

2021-11-01 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi,

this is the call for the next video conference of the Debian Med team
that are an established means to organise the tasks inside our team.
We do these conferences twice per month on every

   2th and 17th

of a month. Usually it takes us only 15-20min depending what we are
talking about and how many people are joining. The next meeting is
tomorrow 18:00 UTC

https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Debian+CoViD-19+Biohackathon+Video+Conference&iso=20211102T18

The meeting is on the Debian Social channel

 https://jitsi.debian.social/DebianMedCovid19

These video meetings were started in the Debian Med Biohackathon.
The topic is what contributors have done in the past period and to
coordinate the work until the next meeting.

For those who are interested in hot topics we want to tackle, here
are some items:

  - Effort to package tensorflow and other ML software which is
used in several applications that are used to fight COVID-19.
The precondition bazel to package tensorflow was a direct
consequence of a Debian Med hackathon and it was even
acknowledged[1]

  - Package software that is used to fight COVID-19 which we are
listing in some spreadsheet[2]. It reaches from small tools
up to complex software packages. There should be targets for
everybody who wants to join us.

  - General Debian Med issues not directly connected to COVID-19

  - RC bugs

Newcomers are always welcome.

Lets keep on the great work and see you tomorrow

   Andreas.

Yes, contact the ci.d.n maintainers. Ehm, that would be me (and terceiro).

I can run start the test manually and get shell in the testbed after
failure. Is there something I can extract from that environment that
helps you debug further?
