Bug#1030207: ITP: libstatistics-topk-perl -- Implementation of the top-k streaming algorithm
Package: wnpp Owner: Mason James Severity: wishlist X-Debbugs-CC: debian-devel@lists.debian.org, debian-p...@lists.debian.org * Package name: libstatistics-topk-perl Version : 0.02 Upstream Author : gray * URL : https://metacpan.org/release/Statistics-TopK * License : Artistic or GPL-1+ Programming Lang: Perl Description : Implementation of the top-k streaming algorithm The Statistics::TopK module implements the top-k streaming algorithm, also know as the "heavy hitters" algorithm. It is designed to process data streams and probabilistally calculate the k most frequent items while using limited memory. A typical example would be to determine the top 10 IP addresses listed in an access log. A simple solution would be to hash each IP address to a counter and then sort the resulting hash by the counter size. But the hash could theoretically require over 4 billion keys. The top-k algorithm only requires storage space proportional to the number of items of interest. It accomplishes this by sacrificing precision, as it is only a probabilistic counter. key packages RC bugs of the month February
Dear all, While I skipped one month, we're now in the mid of the first freeze, so here's another plea [1,2,3,4, 5] to fix RC bugs in key packages [6]. Currently we have 168 RC bugs in key packages affecting bookworm [7] of which 109 are unresolved in unstable or experimental, aren't pending and don't have a patch. Here are again 5 RC bugs in key packages to draw attention to this class of bugs. Remember, resolving these bugs is a collective effort. #925134 grub-efi-amd64 doesn't mount cryptodisk https://bugs.debian.org/925134 #558422 grub-pc upgrade hangs https://bugs.debian.org/558422 #924151 grub2-common wrong grub.cfg for efi boot and fully encrypted disk https://bugs.debian.org/924151 #945001 grub-efi-amd64 GRUB-EFI messes up boot variables https://bugs.debian.org/945001 #990017 grub-ieee1275 [REGRESSION] Bullseye CD installer images fail to install GRUB on OpenPOWER machines https://bugs.debian.org/990017 [Yes, these are all from the same source, the package has a long standing "Request for Help" bug open: https://bugs.debian.org/248397] I am asking for help with investigating RC bug reports, judging severity, reproducing the issue, clarifying the problem, i.e. bug triaging of all RC bugs that haven't seen activity for a while and that are still affecting bookworm. Of course ideally the bug gets fixed. Remember, if you really think a bug shouldn't be RC (particularly if you are the maintainer), downgrade it with an explanation. If in doubt, leave your note in the bug report, that's already a great help. When are distributions removed from main package mirrors?
Every so often distributions are removed from the main Debian package mirrors. For example, on 20-Mar-2019 it was announced that non-LTS wheezy and jessie were being removed (https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2019/03/msg6.html) Is there a Debian document or guideline that provides a schedule for when a distribution will be removed from the main mirrors, or are removals purely ad-hoc?
