programs which libaudiofile0 appear in there dependencies

2005-10-13 Thread Lior Kaplan
Hi,

I got a question why my gphpedit package depends on libaudiofile0.

That's weird, and I tried to check why. I still don't have an answer,
but I noticed that many programs also depends on this libaudiofile0,
although they don't have any audio in them.

examples:
evince
anjuta
dia-gnome
gedit
gnome-system-tools

I guess this is due to some kind of dependency problem with gnome
development packages/libraries. Can anyone help with point the exact
location of the problem ?

p.s.
This doesn't happen any more, so the next upload should fix the issue.

bug #255367: Lake of PPTP in Debian first CD

2005-04-03 Thread Lior Kaplan
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,

I'd like to raise a discussion about PPTP (package name is pptp-linux).
The package is used to connect to the internet, mostly with DSL connections.

According to popcon.debian.org is at #3218 with 323 installations.
Although that number isn't very high, many people in many places (e.g.
Austria, Italy, Israel) depend on this package for internet
connectivity. Without internet connection many people tend to abend
debian during the installation phase.

The package isn't large (91 KB) according to
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/net/pptp-linux.

I'd like to hear what people have to say for/against this bug report.

I rather use PPPoE, but that's not always an option due to ISPs' choice
(of hardware or software).

Quoting http://www.poptop.org :
"What is PPTP?
PPTP stands for Point to Point Tunneling Protocol. It was developed by a
consortium including Microsoft and is used for establishing VPN (Virtual
Private Network) tunnels across the Internet. This allows remote users
to securely and inexpensively access their corporate network from
anywhere on the Internet.

PPTP uses a client-server model for establishing VPN connections. Most
Microsoft operating systems ship with a PPTP client, so there is no need
to purchase third-party client software. PPTP has the additional
advantage over other VPN technologies of being easy to setup."

He doesn't responds to emails. I tried to contact him to
his debian email with no success.

Looking at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=phpdoc seems
the he doesn't respond to bug reports (even RC ones).

Searching google also didn't reveal any recent posts.

If anyone know how to contact him - please let me know (cc me, I'm not

Hi Petr,

It's good to hear from you (I've been looking for a while).

I orphaned your package (sorry for that). Since it was done in the wrong
way - Jeroen closed it. Please orphan it yourself. Thanks.

Any chance you'll at least fix the rc bug so phpdoc will enter sarge?
It's a very small fix to the build-dep line.

Debcheck checks not up to date?

2011-04-24 Thread Lior Kaplan
Hi,

On my QA page I see some warnings due checks done by debcheck (e.g.
http://qa.debian.org/debcheck.php?dist=unstable&package=myspell-ku).

But the last checks were done a month and a half ago (March 16th).
Any idea why the checks aren't repeated more often ?

Kaplan
