Nicer looking than the ones I did last year... maybe you can take over the concept of the index page from mine and stick your graphs behind it since they're better? They've been available from the lists page for a while and are at: http://lists.debian.org/stats/ Regards, Nils. pgpBFX3GxM795.pgp Description: PGP signature

Help Wanted
As many of you know, I'm currently the Debian Press Contact. Unfortunately, I've had less and less time to work on press and publicity related issues lately as other things (SPI work and 'real work') have come to to the forefront, as well as a move next month. I'm looking for help in dealing with requests coming into the [EMAIL PROTECTED] address (not too much, maybe a mail or two a day at present). The help I'm looking for is people to deal with some of those emails, and also to help with other publicity related work- helping write Debians publicity materials, organizing and/or coordinating shows, writing articles for debian-news, posts for debian-announce, etc. Some familiarity with Debian is needed to do this work, but I'll be around to answer questions and help people as needed. If anyone is interested, please subscribe to the debian-publicity mailing list, and drop me an email telling me what you are interested in doing. This is a great opportunity to look into the public relations side of an organization, and so far has given me a lot of experience in dealing with the press, and in the publicity field in general. This 'job' is basically what you make of it- if you're interested in doing something publicity related, you can just do it. Plus, you get your name on /. every now and then (and not just with a 'First Post!':) Thanks, Nils. -- Nils Lohner E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Debian Press ContactPress: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: Possible GIMP contest for new Debian logo
Sorry, this probably belongs on -devel... I'll post it there too. About the design, I personally like the penguin for Debian GNU/Linux, have something similar for Hurd (meaning a red profile of a GNU head or something) and something different (maybe plain nice graphical text? There was a nice one in the previous set of submissions...) for the Debian one. Nils. Debian's focus
Of late, there seem to have been a lot of political discussions going on in this group. These discussions all are intended to improve Debian: its product, its internal operation, and its structure. These are very important discussions that need to be held. It seems, however, that the time for these discussions should not be now. Debian is poised at the brink of a major release (2.0 Hamm), and a fair amount of work needs to be done. The departure of Christian leaves a good sized gap in the organization, and one that will not be easy to fill. This was seemingly brought about by too many criticisms of policies and politics at a time when bug fixing is more important. We can not afford to lose people like him. I would strongly urge that these discussions be tabled for a month or two, until Hamm is safely on its way. The aim of Debian is to produce a Linux Distribution, and at a time when a major release is on the horizon that should be the primary concern of the organization. 2.0 Hamm Press Release Work
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- I am currently working on the 2.0 'Hamm' Press Release. The press release will be posted and discussed on debian-publicity before being released. Please post follow ups to debian-publicity. I would like input from the developers on the following issues: - - what are the major features in 2.0? - - what are the major changes/upgrades from 1.3/1.3.1? - - anything else that is significant about 2.0 - - suggestions on what else should be included in the press release Thanks, Nils. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: 2.6.2 iQCVAwUBNTEIO5kVc0WOJiZFAQFJyQQAuGV9O3Le3xMsDhoWF3HxctGMaiw+ntbz /6Ooom+bgOWguUW7XZJ7edD/zPFkktpPwjPYfOCz9QuI7Mj0/2L8i8EP3FpSOKo3 VRkCrWPBZLDo5frANqYVc9EyYBriXj6ax8Z91P4haTtB1UQtH9ad7MYNU3mP/9Pp RPLuDIsJn6Q= =5hnU -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Re: Intent to package: Nessus
The URL for Nessus is: http://www.mygale.org/~nessus/ It should move soon to: http://kimi.net/nessus/ but I tried that location and got a connection refused. I'll drop the author a line... I've been in contact with him about packaging already. Nils. Intent to package: Nessus
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- I am looking to package Nessus, a "...free, open-sourced and easy-to-use security auditing tool." If anyone has done any work on this, please let me know, otherwise I will start working on it this week. It is intended to go into the 2.1 release.
