I do understand the motives... -- Paul On Thu, Dec 01, 2005 at 08:32:59AM -0600, Manoj Srivastava wrote: Hi, Rationale: I have been thinking about the kinds of reasons for not wanting to have a post to -private published. If it is sensitive in one post, it is sensitive in another. b) I do not want to be associated with the post in question In other words, if this showed up in google it may hurt my future job prospects post ;-). In this case, the post can be published, just every identifying bit about the author needs be redacted from this post and the quotes. What you are showing here is that code that can be compiled is not a working defintion of source code. It not only works, but has been used for a long time. What you are showing is that you have a dislike for source that is hard to modify (fair enough) and would like for it not to be called 'source code' if you feel it is hard to read/modify. 'source code' does not mean 'code that came from the original source untouched' (lets face it, define 'original source' when there is more than one person working on code with different trees, working machines etc...) it literally means code that can be used to generate a binary. So please stop making weird claims about the meaning of words and definitions and state plainly that you don't like hard to read/modify (ugly?) source code and would like Debian to ban using such. Re: status of buildds?
I can happily provide two Sun SS20's , one or two U1's and an Acorn RiscPC to help build ARM and Sparc. I'd happily give them a basic install, provide broadband access to them and hand over control to the buildd team. -- Paul On Mon, Mar 14, 2005 at 08:43:40PM -0800, Thomas Bushnell BSG wrote: http://buildd.debian.org/stats/graph-week-big.png For the past week, mipsel has been chugging mightily and made huge progress. But s390 has slipped worse and worse, with only a single machine building packages. Meanwhile, arm made a brief, but valiant attempt, but has been plummeting, and is now nearly down to 91% built. Joining the race to the bottom, is sparc, which has also been sliding. For s390 and sparc, it appears that only one machine is in place building these archs. Meanwhile, lists quite a few machines of those four archs. For arm, we have debussy; for s390 we have raptor and trex; for mipsel we hav vaughan, and for sparc we have vore. vore is a buildd, but the other three four are essentially idle. What would be necessary to leverage these processors and have them building? When there is one buildd, adding another *doubles* the progress you can make! No opinion about LVM-style RAID. My goal is lvm2 support but that needs different kernel-images which are a pain to build for 11 archs. The same image would be needed for low-mem installs (if we want to support 48MB ram systems) so there is some incentive to build them. The inclusion of mdadm would at least enable people to go into a shell and setup their MD devices. Then all you'd need to do is make sure some basic MD options are on in the kernel. -- Paul

If we should work out and discuss every feature (needing some weeks), then test it some months, we won't release Woody before 2003. No I didn't. I think this use of isolinux is fantastic. I've been having a gander (unlike some other posters to this thread I suspect) and there is nothing really new here - it really is using just a slightly different syslinux binary and combining the syslinux.cfg's together with access to all the discs in one. I can't see the big deal. What I would provide/recommend is including a smartboot windows and linux binaries - this can write a very simple boot floppy that will boot cdroms on most machines with older non el-torito BIOS's. Thumbs up for Isolinux CD #1. -- Paul -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
