Bug#914253: ITP: python-sqlalchemy-migrate -- Database schema migration for SQLAlchemy

2018-11-20 Thread Per Andersson
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Per Andersson

* Package name: python-sqlalchemy-migrate
  Version : 0.11.0
  Upstream Author : OpenStack
* URL : https://pypi.org/project/sqlalchemy-migrate/
* License : MIT/Expat
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Database schema migration for SQLAlchemy

Inspired by Ruby on Rails’ migrations, Migrate provides a way to deal
with database schema changes in SQLAlchemy projects.

Migrate extends SQLAlchemy to have database changeset handling. It
provides a database change repository mechanism which can be used from
the command line as well as from inside python code.

This is required for new versions of pytrainer.

I plan to maintain this in the Python Modules Team.

Bug#764071: ITP: toxic -- a curses Tox based instant messenging client

2014-10-05 Thread Per Andersson
Package: wnpp

Control: block -1 by 739860

* Package name: toxic
  Version : 0.5.2
  Upstream Author : JFreegman
* URL : https://github.com/tox/toxic
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : a curses Tox based instant messenging client

Toxic is a Tox-based instant messenging client which formerly resided in
the Tox core repository, and is now available as a standalone
application.
.
Tox is a secure and distributed Skype replacement.
.
At its heart it’s a client dealing with our core library communicating
on our own protocol. All communications are encrypted using the peer
audited NaCl cypto library and this encryption can not be turned off.
.
Tox is powered by a distributed network which uses P2P connections for
chats between people, unlike other Skype replacements no federated
servers, centralized servers, or supernodes are used.

This is a way to replace Skype. It is decentralized, as opposed to
Jabber/XMPP, SIP, Jitsi etc.

If anyone wants to co-maintain they are very welcome. Is there a
communications team? I know of the OTR team, but that is only for OTR...

Bug#739116: ITP: frosted -- a simple program which checks Python source files for errors

2014-02-15 Thread Per Andersson
Package: wnpp

Owner: Per Andersson

* Package name: frosted
  Version : 1.3.3
  Upstream Author : Timothy Crosley
* URL : https://github.com/timothycrosley/frosted
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : a simple program which checks Python source files for errors

 Frosted is a fork of pyflakes (originally created by Phil Frost) that
 aims at more open contribution from the outside public, a smaller more
 maintainable code base, and a better Python checker for all. It
 currently cleanly supports Python 2.6 - 3.4 using pies to achieve this
 without ugly hacks and/or py2to3.

I use this and plan to maintain it in collab-maint.

It is a fork of pyflakes (which seems to have become a bit stale) and is
taken in by the python community.

Another similar package is pep8.

Bug#739115: ITP: python-pies -- library for writing programs for both Python 2 and 3

2014-02-15 Thread Per Andersson
Package: wnpp

Owner: Per Andersson

* Package name: python-pies
  Version : 2.6.0
  Upstream Author : Timothy Crosley
* URL : https://github.com/timothycrosley/pies
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : library for writing programs for both Python 2 and 3

 Pies is a Python 2 and 3 compatibility layer with the philosophy that all
 code should be Python 3 code. Starting from this viewpoint means that
 when running on Python 3 pies adds virtually no overhead.
 .
 Instead of providing a bunch of custom methods (leading to Python code
 that looks out of place on any version) pies aims to backport as many
 of the Python 3 API calls, imports, and objects to Python 2 - relying
 on special syntax only when absolutely necessary.

This is a dependency for frosted, which I also filed an ITP for.

A similar package is python-six.

I plan to maintain it in collab-maint.

I came to the same conclusion myself.

I asked ftpmasters to reject the uploaded foreman from NEW, which they did.

Package is since renamed to ruby-foreman (as can be seen in the bug title),
although not uploaded yet.

I saw this but decided to ignore it for now since there hasn't been any activity
with Foreman in over a year. If the name conflict arise in Debian it is a pretty
small matter to change it then I think. I.e. Foreman[1] renaming to
theforeman as
the upstream web page or this foreman renaming to ruby-foreman or some such,
it is not a big thing IMHO.

 Bond is on a mission to improve autocompletion in ruby, especially for
 irb/ripl.
 .
 Aside from doing everything irb's can do and fixing its quirks, Bond can
 autocomplete argument(s) to methods, uniquely completing per module, per
 method and per argument. Bond brings ruby autocompletion closer to bash/zsh as
 it provides a configuration system and a DSL for creating custom completions
 and completion rules. With this configuration system, users can customize
 their autocompletions and share it with others. Bond can also load completions
 that ship with gems.
 .
 Bond is able to offer more than irb's completion since it uses the full line
 of input when completing as opposed to irb's last-word approach.

Bug#687490: ITP: python-django-mezzanine -- CMS built using the Django framework

2012-09-13 Thread Per Andersson
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Per Andersson

* Package name: python-django-mezzanine
  Version : 1.2.4
  Upstream Author : Stephen McDonald
* URL : http://mezzanine.jupo.org/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Python, Javascript
  Description : CMS built using the Django framework

 Mezzanine is a powerful, consistent, and flexible content management platform.
 Built using the Django framework, Mezzanine provides a simple yet highly
 extensible architecture that encourages diving in and hacking on the code.
 .
 In some ways, Mezzanine resembles tools such as Wordpress that provide an
 intuitive interface for managing pages, blog posts, form data, store products,
 and other types of content. But Mezzanine is also different. Unlike many other
 platforms that make extensive use of modules or reusable applications,
 Mezzanine provides most of its functionality by default. This approach yields
 a more integrated and efficient platform.

Bug#686902: ITP: python-bleach -- whitelist-based HTML-sanitizing library

2012-09-06 Thread Per Andersson
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Per Andersson

* Package name: python-bleach
  Version : 1.1.5
  Upstream Author : James Socol
* URL : http://pypi.python.org/pypi/bleach/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : whitelist-based HTML-sanitizing library

 Bleach is an HTML sanitizing library that escapes or strips markup and
 attributes based on a white list. Bleach can also linkify text safely,
 applying filters that Django's urlize filter cannot, and optionally setting
 rel attributes, even on links already in the text.
 .
 Bleach is intended for sanitizing text from untrusted sources. If you find
 yourself jumping through hoops to allow your site administrators to do lots of
 things, you're probably outside the use cases. Either trust those users, or
 don't.
 .
 Because it relies on html5lib, Bleach is as good as modern browsers at dealing
 with weird, quirky HTML fragments. And any of Bleach's methods will fix
 unbalanced or mis-nested tags.

Has anyone seen Shugo?

2012-06-04 Thread Per Andersson
Hi!

Has anyone seen Shugo Maeda ?

Shugo maintains eruby, librmail-ruby, libwrap-ruby, and mod-ruby. [0]
* A few old bugs in every package, no RC bugs.
* Two packages are NMUed.
* The changelogs tells that the last activity was on 22 July 2008.

[0] http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=sh...@debian.org

Shugo does not seem to have disappeared from the internets totally,
Activity is seen in the Ruby community and on github, twitter, blogger
etc.

Per

Bug#517915: ITP: oneswarm -- friend-to-friend client: p2p data sharing with explicit privacy control

2009-03-02 Thread Per Andersson
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Per Andersson

* Package name: oneswarm
  Version : 0.5
  Upstream Author : Tomas Isdal et al.
* URL : http://oneswarm.cs.washington.edu/
* License : GPLv2, LGPL, Apache, nc-sa3, CPLv1
  Programming Lang: Java
  Description : friend-to-friend client: p2p data sharing with explicit
privacy control

OneSwarm is a fully backwards-compatible BitTorrent client with an explicit
privacy control enhancement. OneSwarm uses source address rewriting to
protect user privacy. Instead of always transmitting data directly from
sender to receiver (immediately identifying both), OneSwarm may forward
data through multiple intermedaries, obscuring the identity of both sender
and receiver.

OneSwarm’s interface is web-based and supports real-time transcoding of
many audio and video formats for in-browser playback, eliminating the need for
casual users to master a new application’s interface or search for custom media
codecs.

A new usertag was introduced into the BTS a while ago, the
gift tag. [0] [1] Being a newbie in Debian, the BTS and
contributing to the free software community I thought this
was a great idea. It seems that the gift tag isn't used that
much though [2]. It would be great if the gift tag gained
popularity.

There exists pages on w.d.o that targets how to get started
with help out. [3] [4] Perhaps there is a need for a more
clean path to finding out how to get started, a start would be
to put links on the frontpage of w.d.o and [5] to get directly
to the help guide [4]. As it is now, the path there is quite
long and IMHO you need to know what you are looking for.
