[debian] git depency on git-man

2020-01-05 Thread Anatoly Pugachev
Gerrit, hello.

Is it possible to close bugs related to git/git-man and dependency
between them?

As I understand, fix should be quite trivial (just move git-man from
git depends to recommends or suggests).

debian bug ids (some started almost 10 years ago, some with patches attached):

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=613892
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=688717
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=933402
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=948151

Or can someone of debian developers please fix it (commit a fix)?!

Thanks.

I think #613892 has a patch to do the --help compatibility thing, and
that plus the change to Recommends seems to me like it ought to be
uploaded ?

You could combine those changes into a single patch, send it to
613892, and tag the bugs "patch". That would increase the chances of
it appearing in the next upload.

If the maintainer is overworked, perhaps they would appreciate an NMU.
I haven't looked through the src:git bug list but perhaps there are
other bugs with patches that could be applied. I will leave
negotiating about that with the maintainer to you.

Regards,
Ian.
