Bug#195426: O: multi-gnome-terminal -- Enhanced the GNOME Terminal
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I'm orphaning multi-gnome-terminal package now, because I don't use it at this point, and I have no enough time to maintain such package. presumably there might be the appropriate DD than me to maintain this package. Description is here: Multi Gnome Terminal is an enhanced version of gnome-terminal which has the following features added: . - Many terminals in each window - Switch between terminals using shortcuts - Execution of user defined commands in new terminals - Notification of terminal states (changed, changing, unchanged) using different tabs colors - Reorderable tabs . All this extensions are inspired by screen and konsole (the KDE2 terminal) Thanks, -- Akira TAGOH : [EMAIL PROTECTED] / Japan GNOME Users Group [EMAIL PROTECTED] : [EMAIL PROTECTED] / GNOME-DB Project : [EMAIL PROTECTED] / Red Hat, Inc. : [EMAIL PROTECTED] / Debian Project

Re: Bug#195426: O: multi-gnome-terminal -- Enhanced the GNOME Terminal
MGT is much more capable than gnome-terminal, I prefer the power of MGT over gnome-terminal, and if no-one else will step in, I'd be willing to maintain MGT myself. I wouldn't think that any GNOME 1 program is obsolete. In this case MGT provides useful functionality and the fact that it's based on GNOME 1 is meaningless. I only had a cursory look on gnome-terminal, but one of the features I use a lot and is missing in it is splitting of the terminal to multiple panes, so that I have three terminals in a single view. As such: +---+ | | | | | | +-+-+ | | | | | | +-+-+ gnome-terminal also doesn't have search in the terminal buffer. These are the two I use and couldn't find in gnome-terminal, there may be others and there may be not. But I still don't think that keeping MGT causes so much trouble that it should be removed. Wouldn't it be better to remove it from the archive, instead? But since people have already spoken up, who astill use this package, this question has become meaningless. - Sebastian
