vmdb2 creates disk images with Debian installed. Conceptually it's like vmdebootstrap, except that the output is a disk image instead of a directory tree. Such images can be used for virtual machines, as well as real hardware. . vmdb2 is a successor of vmdebootstrap and intends to replace it. It's intentionally not backwards compatible with vmdebootstrap, however.
