Maybe I misread, but the # DP: line has to be in the patch file (so
in debian/patches/file) and not in debian/changelog.

You can ask lintian to be more verbose, adding -v option to its call.

Does it clarify the situation?

I'd suggest -i, as -v merely traces lintian's activity in more detail.
