elmo said that katie will get confused with another stable upload of joe and
had me remove the upload from incoming. I now remembered that my upload is
still in auric:~joy/j/

Ask him if and how to get it into stable.

I changed the source format to DBS in unstable.

Aha.

But: 1st, I'm interested in stable, 2nd the katie db told me the path
from above, and 3rd why do potato and unstable/testing have different
.orig.tar.gz versions?

That's because you're not looking in the right place. See pool/main/j/joe:

-rw-rw-r--1 troupdebadmin 193756 Mar 9 2001 joe_2.8.orig.tar.gz

-rw-rw-r--1 troupdebadmin 192245 Mar 9 2001
/org/ftp.debian.org/ftp/dists/potato/main/source/editors/joe_2.8.orig.tar.gz-rw-r--r--
1 joey Debian 192245 Dec 1 2000 joe_2.8.orig.tar.gz

84c1aebfce7876b8639945da3c29f204
/org/ftp.debian.org/ftp/dists/potato/main/source/editors/joe_2.8.orig.tar.gz
84c1aebfce7876b8639945da3c29f204 joe_2.8.orig.tar.gz

Don't look too different for me.

Next reason?

Actually, I did this at one point, but then elmo said it won't get accepted.
I'm not sure how recent this was, though.

maybe some other DD can pick out those security updates and upload
them to stable.
