I added ide-floppy to my /etc/modules and it hasn't bothered me since. I don't know if this was ever fixed. I only have two disks running on one port and two CDs on the other. Since one of these is a burner I use scsi emulation for CD but not for the disks. Michael -- Michael Meskes | Go SF 49ers! Th.-Heuss-Str. 61, D-41812 Erkelenz| Go Rhein Fire! After all the problem occurs way to early for a mount call. And yes, IDE is compiled in. The system can read from the disk. For instance init or e2fsck sre started. But it does not seem to find the superblock. Michael -- Michael Meskes | Go SF 49ers! Th.-Heuss-Str. 61, D-41812 Erkelenz| Go Rhein Fire! Tel.: (+49) 2431/72651 | Use Debian GNU/Linux! Sounds like you may have turned on support for devfs. You might want to turn that off until debian has a package for devfsd. Alternatively, if you have SCO login enabled, you can go into /dev and create symlinks from /dev/ide/bus0/unit0/part1 to /dev/hda1 etc... then exit and continue rebooting. I can't use it because the PCnet32 driver is completely broken. (though I have tested it using a pcmcia ethernet) -smj
