Just because Red Hat sees the need to urinate all over everything with
their logo doesn't mean we should. Nevertheless, this kind of thing is
easily configurable with the window manager, so if you want to do it for
your own machine(s), there's nothing to stop you.

Most Debian users are like most Redhat users: They won't care if the logo
is there or they'll be proud to have it. If neither of those is the case,
they'll change the damned logo, no problem. =

Great idea IMO. Can we get that into slink?

If I understand you correctly, this is up to each windowmanager.
Some wms can't have a penguin in the corner, but I see no
harm in changing the default for those that can. It should, however
be up to the maintainer of each wm.

Last time I checked, the license for the logo didn't allow its use in a
package (which I complained about, so maybe that's not true any more).
I tried to do this myself, and found that the logo was unrecognizable
when shrunk down that small. The lines are too thin, and critical
detail gets lost. RH's logo is actually a lot cleaner and more elegant
(IMO) than Debian's. I'd vote for a new logo if I thought anyone would
listen to me.

I'd prefer a new logo as well (with no offense intended toward the kind
person who created the current one!)

But I can't draw, so I guess I should shut up. :-)

How did we arrive at the current logo? My memory stinks.

Jeff
