Bug#840253: ITP: openqa: automated test tool to test the whole installation process of an OS

* License : GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: Perl /
  Description : automated test tool to test the whole installation process
of an OS

  openQA is a testing framework that allows you to test GUI applications
 on one hand and bootloader and kernel on the other. In both cases, it is
 difficult to script tests and verify the output. Output can be a popup
 window or it can be an error in early boot even before init is executed.

 Therefore openQA runs virtual machines and closely monitors their state
 and runs tests on them.

Catch is a multi-paradigm automated test framework for C++
and Objective-C.
Its key features are:
 * Distributed as a single header file with no dependencies.
 * Test cases are self-registering.
 * Test cases can be de divided into isolated sections.
 * Behaviour Driven Design style is possible with GIVEN-WHEN-THEN
   in place of test cases and sections.
 * Only one core assertion macro for comparisons; standard language
   operators are used for comparison, yet the expression is decomposed
   and properly logged.

2008-12-23 Thread Илья Ауров
Hello! I am working in group which trying to make new linux disturb based on
debian, it's oriented on Russian users and x64 architecture. I am interested in
what type of automated test do you use after installing test version on pc or
virtual machine? Do you make testing of libraries, binaries, network programs?

I would like to suggest that you join Debian and make the changes
required for Russian/amd64 users within Debian rather than outside it,
this way your work will benefit more users - people running Debian or
Ubuntu or one of the myriad Debian derivatives.

Mainly we rely on users to test things and report bugs. Some packages
include automated test suites in the build process. In the past there
have been some moves towards automated post-install testing, you might
want to search the archives of the debian-qa and debian-devel lists
for information about that.
