Are you aware of the fact that EVMS will not be included in Linux
kernel? Please consider using LVM2/DM instead.

Although the EVMS kernel side support will not be included in the 2.6.x
series. The EVMS user space tools (which are considered to be superior
to LVM2/DM2) are being adapted for LVM2/DM. Hence developing an EVMS
module is good, as in the short term we get to use a good logical volume
manager with 2.4 but in the longer term this can be quickly and easily
adapted to LVM2 + EVMS frontend. Reducing the overall code needed to be
written! Woot!

Rob

Busybox devel (which I really should get packaged up) has the

to do the porting myself, since my plate is pretty full at the

do the port...

Why would I care? :)

Debian-installer is modular. Adding evms support means using an evms
enabled kernel, then running evms instead of fdisk + mkfs.

| Please consider using LVM2/DM instead.

Nobody has cared enough to begin implementing support for those.

Are you aware of the fact that EVMS is being adapted to work with
device-mapper instead of the EVMS kernel runtime?

 Please consider using LVM2/DM instead.

There is no instead, these are not exclusive options. LVM2 integration
with debian-installer will happen if and when someone does the work. Tollef
Fog Heen helped me to provide udebs for EVMS; if someone volunteered to on
integrate LVM2, I'm sure they would be welcomed by the debian-installer
folks.
