I agree, there is some confusion. Some jdk 1.1 specific names were
proposed too but I don't know if they are official or not. Is there any
traffic on debian-java? I subscribed but haven't seen anything.

I have reassigned you my two finest bug reports about java-virtual-machine :-)

thanks,

Because I wasn't sure if that was still a valid virtual package name? :)

We've gone round the issue of virtual packages for jvm's a couple of
times & I'm still not certain anything got decided. Next release will
comply.

Why doesn't jdk1.1 provide java-virtual-machine? That's an officially
listed virtual package and would have avoided this problem, and would
also solve two bug reports filed against guavac.

guavac doesn't build except on libg++272. I don't know enough STL
to fix it, nor do I really want to. It seems to be unmaintained
upstream and buggy.

I cannot rebuild this package at present because javac always segfaults
for me. If anyone would like to do a non-maintainer release, I would
be grateful...

It got nuked when hamm was frozen (source is still in project/orphaned,
I think, but the binary is gonzo)

Stephen Zander <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> is working on uploading jdk1.1.5 - so
I didn't bother with fixing 1.1.3.

You can still get it from:

  ftp://ftp.jimpick.com/pub/debian/pkgs-old/jdk1.1/1.1.3.v2-1

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Cheers,

 - Jim
