Agreed. I use NDBM and it has worked better for me than positron since day
1, and it does continue to see updates. It'd be nice to have NDBM packaged
for Debian and in the archive (though not critical, since jar files are
easy enough to deal with) if someone with java skillz is interested.

I can confirm that Positron is dead. Not only is it dead, it isn't
compatible with newer Neuros firmware. Sorune (Perl) and NDBM (Java) are
the two not-dead replacements.

I suggest removal.

Orphaning most of my packages

2006-10-12 Thread Steve Greenland
The time is long since past to admit that I will *never* again have the
time to provide proper maintenance to my packages. Given the brief delay
in the freeze, hopefully someone can pick these up and get new versions
in with proper maintainers.

I don't have time to provide sponsorship either; I will be around to
answer questions for the new maintainer, but you might wait a day or two
for a response (but usually more quickly than that.) I can provide a CVS
repo of the package history for all of these; send me an email (adopters
only, please).

I have submitted wnpp bugs for these; I've not uploaded versions with
the maintainer set to QA, I'll get around to that later(!) for any that
aren't adopted.

Bug#392665: O: nvi - 4.4BSD re-implementation of vi

Effectivley dead upstream. Needs some love for 8bit and unicode
handling.

Bug#392666: O: dgpsip - Correct GPS location with DGPS signal from internet

Probably irrelevant now that selective availability is gone, but popcon
shows 32 installs, so maybe someone is actually using this. If noone
adopts, I'll ask for removal rather than re-assign to QA.

Bug#392671: O: ee - An "easy editor" for novices and compuphobics

Not dead upstream, but finished, I think.

Bug#392672: O: positron - synchronization manager for the Neuros Audio
Computer Python. Probably dead after v1.1. Pierre Habouzit has NMU'd a
version 1.1 upgrade and support for new python policy, see bug # 380895.

Steve

I have agreed with Ivo ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), that he can take over the package.
If you're interested - or more suitable, or whatever :) - you should discuss
things with him; I Cc'd him on this message.

Now that you are taking them over, some documentation to be
included in the "Debian Securing Manual" regarding these packages could be
useful too BTW. There's currently not a single paragraph on how to setup
these patches to the kernel in Debian.

Hello,

I'll like to adopte the libphp-adodb package from you.

I have created the packages with the new upstream version. You can
download it from:
ftp://jade.viastore.de/debian/pool/main/libp/libphp-adodb/

All current outstanding bugs are fixed with this version.

So, if noone is interessted...

I would like to take over your ITP for cryptoapi. If noone else wants
it, I can take kernel-patch-int too.

Please retitle them to RFP (request for package) rather than closing

orphaning most (of my) packages

2002-08-20 Thread Robert van der Meulen
Hi,

I'm going to orphan most of my packages. Before I upload them with
Maintainer: set to QA, i'd like people to look at them and see if they want
anything :)
Some of the - less intensive - packages I'm keeping, the others I can't keep
on maintaining due to several reasons (bought a house, plan to be busy with
that, busy time at work, social stuff).
Please contact me if you want to take anything; most of them will be
first-come, first-serve.

Orphaning:
kernel-patch-2.2.18-openwall (needs updating to more recent kernel, and
general maintenance)
libphp-adodb (a php database abstraction layer, required for 'acidlab')
lvm-common (this should go to the new lvm maintainer, I think. Cc to him
for this reason)
razor ('needed' by spamasassin; needs updating)
xonix-jahu (ancient game)
kernel-patch-int (should be superseded by cryptoapi; i can't find the time).

Then there's some ITP's i (enthousiastically) did; i'm going to be closing
them too. Interested people can upload and close at will, if they're faster
than me: ricochet, loop-aes, cryptoapi, ipsec-tunnel.

Robert
