Please move bugs-related scripts to merkel.debian.org

2004-03-30 Thread Colin Watson
As many of you will know, master.debian.org has been suffering from
serious disk space problems for some time. We moved the bug tracking
system to the new machine spohr.debian.org a little while ago, but,
since spohr is a restricted machine, master has continued to host a
mirror of the BTS for use by developers for automatic analysis,
research, third-party services, and general poking around. The disk
space problems haven't been getting much better, though.

There is now another mirror of the BTS, on merkel.debian.org. You should
be able to move your scripts to it without too much difficulty; if you
do have problems (i.e. you need something else to be mirrored), please
contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Administrative details: the mirror is updated every fifteen minutes,
immediately following each processall run. Note that the bug index files
(index.db and index.archive) and the bug files themselves may be out of
sync with each other for brief periods of time during the mirroring
process. For most applications, this should only matter for new bugs and
when old bugs are being expired into the archive.

I'd like to decommission the BTS mirror on master about this time next
month if at all possible, so swift action on this from affected
developers would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

/org/ftp.debian.org mirror on merkel

2004-03-30 Thread Daniel Silverstone
Hello,

As some of you may have noticed, merkel has slowly been growing a mirror
of the /org/ftp.debian.org/* structure that used to be available to all
developers on ftp-master.

Since ftp-master is on a restricted host (newraff) a mirror was needed
and merkel was chosen to host it. The mirror is very new and we expect
one or two teething problems; however the important thing is that there
is now a proper projectb database[1] accessible on a developer-access
machine (thus tools like madison will work again).

The mirror is being updated once per hour initially. We will adjust this
interval up or down depending on how it seems to behave. The projectb is
updated once per day, directly after the install run, to reflect the
day's changes in the archive.

Please note that the /org/ftp.debian.org/ftp/ tree (the actual archive
mirror) is updated with the standard mirror updates and as such may be
slightly out of sync with the projectb for a few minutes after the
install run completes.

If you have any issues with, or questions about, this mirror, please
contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks,

Daniel Silverstone
pp. The Debian archive maintenance team.

[1] The projectb database stores all the metadata about the packages in
the Debian archive. It contains what versions of what packages are in
what suites for what architectures; and much much more.

Klecker Home Directories moved

2004-03-30 Thread Martin Schulze
I have moved all home directories that don't belong on klecker anymore
to gluck. If you find a file klecker-home-${logname}.tar.bz2 in your
home directory on gluck, that's the old home directory from klecker
before we faced the break-in in November last year.

Please inspect it and remove the parts you don't need anymore.

This refers to summarised 6.5 GB of uncompressed and 4.7 GB of
compressed data. This is *cough* quite a lot, but klecker was
restricted before you had a chance to clean up your home directories.

However, this also refers to 739 accounts, so nearly everybody
involved in the project used the account on klecker.

Regards,

Joey
