[Bug 543] Need script to keep automount map up to date
http://bugs.skolelinux.no/show_bug.cgi?id=543 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2005-12-06 20:48 --- okay, we have several options here. we could test if there is users in ldap for whom the automount-map of their homedir is not defined, and create automount map for them We can make a script that takes one path as an argument, and create an automount map for it We can test for partitions mounted locally on the server (let it be tjener or some other name). I believe that with NFS, you have to share out each partitions, and if you have mounted a partition as a submount-point, that partition will not be shared. that is, if you have mounted on tjener /skole/tjener/home0 /skole/tjener/home0/teachers and you only export /skole/tjener/home0, the content of /skole/tjener/home0/teachers is not availible until you also share /skole/tjener/home0/teachers. Re: About cvs for french dev.
hanks Benjamin for this mail Let me explain again what we try to do in France We're builiding a companion CD, a CD number two. Which has to be installed when the sarge based CD is installed. The goal of this CD is to adapt our very good work to speficities of education in france. This CD has now 380 Mo. - With a lot of free educational softwares: some of can be found for the moment only in french, we've started with the german team and Abuledu.org to translate a part of them... - With an Intranet which uses Moodle.org, We've added to moodle some speficic modules: the management of the white and black list, which is used for the acces to internet in french schools (white list = list of allowed sites), a comptency book, to follow the progress of each student, a lot of documentation on how to use these softwares but also a lot of pedagogical scenarios. for the future we want to add a tool for the management of a school... - With Skels: different desktops made for each education cycle using kde and windowmaker. These skels are copied in the home of the user at the user creation time. - ... have just a look on http://schlossgul.org/wakka.php?wiki=LisTe to have an idea about our work. We hope that all this work will be usefull in the main project. When we ask for a dedicated cvs module it's for our second CD. We'll, has we do since the beginning of our work, continue to take part in the main project. I think you/we need more details.. Firstly have a look here: http://schlossgul.org/wakka.php?wiki=LisTe This page contains all informations about what is in our second CD, sorry it's in french so I will shortly explain what it is.. What we need ? -> After installing the skolelinux official CD, we wants a second CD which will contains all modifications we want, like an upgrade CD. -> It should be easy to use so, we made a install script for automatic software installation(additionnal packages which aren't on the official skolelinux cd), Intranet(Moodle which modification for french school), Personnalization of home desktop for users(french need too :),Ldap administration tools(Cipux),Openoffice plugins This CD was made because every school don't have an internet access to upgrade skolelinux and install additionnal packages. I hope we could use a common cvs repository or a new branch of the official repository so everybody could have easily access to the modifications. Other good point is that some additionnal learning software are in french and it would be nice if translation could be made, and become official debian packages ;) Sorry for my bad english... -- Xavier Oswald -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". ksensors for education?
(This is a copy of a mail I sent to Miguel Novas, developer of ksensors) Hola Miguel, I appreciate the simple but efficient approach of ksensors in order to integrate meters in one frame. As member of the German Skolelinux (Debian-Edu) team, I believe that we need something similar for schools (see below). Could you please give your personal assesment of the feasibility of such project? Gracias! Ralf -- Weitergeleitete Nachricht -- Subject: [kde-edu]: Sugg: Framework for Science Meters Date: Dienstag 06 Dezember 2005 14:09 From: RalfGesellensetter <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dear list, during "Linuxtage Essen" (Essen Linuxdays), some scientists addressed the lack of free interfaces to scientific gear such as thermometers, gyrometers, geigercounters, whatsoever. As a matter of fact, there are already loads of measuring tools - but it lacks integration and usabilities if we want to use them in school. This made me think: How about a framing project / application similar to ksensors? Existing implementations could dock into such framework. The framework itself could provide features like - data recording - data plotting - statistical evaluations. Also popping into my mind is ksimus datarecorder as one possible frontend. As it comes to realtime data, acoustic recorders could be another approach. What is your comments on this? Should we forward this idea to kde-devel? Cheers & merry nick day ;) Regards Ralf ___ kde-edu mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-edu --- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". We want to store our specific packages sources in this cvs and > the cd builder scripts too. What about including the packages into Debian and into Skolelinux ??? Some time ago I started a thread about including all the inofficial packages into Debian (I think it was about the Offset packages). So what about discussing the packages? It would be nice if you can post a list of them and we can see wether we include them or not, maybe this also answers your questions. > We also want to use some scripts to send a mail when a commit is sent to > the repository so that our french server can do nightly builds and so > that our mailing list can receive cvs commit warning messages. The official Skolelinux svn has already all these features ;) > What is your opinion and what solution do you prefer ? I always prefer to "join forces" and to work together on one big and good official skolelinux project. BTW can you please point out where are the differences between the french version and the official skolelinux version? Thanks a lot Greetings Steffen pgpoOfUaXsqyq.pgp Description: PGP signature

Hi! First I have to admit that I might have missed some of the emails regarding the French project to this list. But I have one question that I hope you can answer to give me a clearer picture of the situation. How come you build your own CD, have your own sources for packages and so on? Isn't it possible for you to cooperate with us on the Skolelinux-CD, SVN-archives on svn.debian.org and developer.skolelinux.no, and bugtracker? I believe we would be able to make a better product if we stoped all this "double-work" and started to work in the same direction on the same product. This is not ment as criticism, but as questions because I probably have missed the answers earlier on. - Werner -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? About cvs for french dev.
Hi all, The french team who is developping skolelinux since 2005-05 has no cvs for now. I joined the team on 2005-11 and convinced them to use cvs for our sources. cool idea huh ? Do you think it is possible to have a dedicated cvs module in your debian-edu cvs server for the french project, or do you think we'd rather use our own cvs in France (we can administrate a local version of course) ? We want to store our specific packages sources in this cvs and the cd builder scripts too. We also want to use some scripts to send a mail when a commit is sent to the repository so that our french server can do nightly builds and so that our mailing list can receive cvs commit warning messages. What is your opinion and what solution do you prefer ? Thanks in advance for your help and advices, Regards, Benjamin Sonntag -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Furthemore, debian is a well-known distribution in the french free software world ... However, we want to know if the historical skolelinux.no/debian-edu team is ok about the use of .fr domain names by the french team for its project ... So, if some of you want to tell us what you think about this domain name question, you're welcome :) Regards, Benjamin Sonntag french team.
