ltsp manager

2007-01-13 Thread Steffen Joeris
Hi mates

Tonight I came across "LTSP-Manager" which is in Ubuntu feisty[0].
I did not investigate which features it provides, but I would like to share
the thought with you, maybe it is interesting for us here as I guess a tool
to at least configure an LTSP chroot would be somehow really nice (e.g. when
a teacher wants to change the mouse settings in an easy GUI way).
Maybe someone wants to investigate and give some further details and evaluate
it a bit.

Package: ltsp-manager
Description: Ubuntu LTSP server management GUI
This is the LTSP GUI management tool to set up, modify and manage an
Ubuntu LTSP server Thin Client installation. It guides you through
the Thin Client chroot installation and enables you to adjust dhcp
settings on the server. It also allows you to tweak specific settings
 for the Thin Clients.

Cheers
Steffen

fixed now? Or do you mean the font size?

Thanks, fixed. It looked wrong somehow but then I forgot to check... :)

Well, my next talk is about the next generation liveCDs, incl. the the ones
for -edu. The current manual build liveCDs are sarge based, or? (I will
mention them..)

We cannot read the text at the bottom on slide 5.
Other slides are concerned too but it's not clear on slide 5.
On slide 9 you mean simplified instead of simplefied.

And maybe you can speak about the liveCD if someone want to test it.

Otherwise, your presentation seems to be complete and well done.

No. A single medium DVD is no challange, thats easy :)

I think this is covered on page 11, "development 'tools'".

Hi Holger,

should this on page 13 be: single medium installation CD / DVD ?

And may be there a URL or other "point of joining" to publish on page 14?

I just looked at the screenshots but I think you should consistently
have the Reset and Cancel buttons down to the right on each gui element.
Even if you dont need to push them, hitting enter instead.

It's possible, but you would have to use backports of php5

You could also easily install an etch-based workstation, then add lwat
to that installation (which will pull in apache2 I think)

It should work out of the box if you use the templates prefixed with
"old" (oldStudents, oldTeachers...)

I've upgrade the installation of Time Kommune during the christmas, and
are preparing upgrades of the other schools that I'm administrating
during the winter holiday.

If, so, will it just work or do some ldap schemas need to be changed?

Also we will be moving towards etch during the year. Can users from
Sarge tjener easily be moved to etch tjener?

lwat - user administration tool

2007-01-13 Thread Patrick Winnertz
Hey Guys,

Here are some screenshots of lwat, this is an user administration tool
for ldap

http://bzz.no/~finnarne/lwat/screenshots/

It is per default installed with debian-edu on the tjener and can be
accessed with this URL:

http://tjener.intern/lwat/

It would be nice if someone can test it and report the problems to the
debian-edu mailinglist or better to the lwat development mailinglist:
