Not really helpful for the migration itself, but for afterwards: http://www.wollmux.org The WollMux is an OpenOffice.org plugin developed by the Municipality of the City of Munich, Bavaria. It's main features are Cross-platform operation (Linux and Windows) A toolbar for accessing document templates, PDF files, web pages,... On the fly template generation from separate files (e.g. letterhead, footer, form) Pre-filling templates with personal and organizational data from a variety of databases (e.g. LDAP) Advanced form support with auto-computed fields and input validity checking Hiding and showing parts of the document based on form input Advanced autotext support with identifier pattern matching and a shortcut syntax for filling in placeholders Chainable printing plugins to provide custom dialogs and transformations when printing Automatic printing of document variants according to Sachleitende Verfügungen. Enhanced serial letter functionality that ties in with the form functionality (e.g. auto-computed fields) and the custom print plugins. I'd expect people from the Limux project in Munich have some advice on migration too. procedure to massive convertion from .doc to .odf
Hi all, in a migration project (31 municipalities in Andalucía, Spain) I'm working on, I have to make a massive migration from .doc and .xls format archives to OpenDocument. Is there anybody has a procedure written about how to do that? If so, I can use it and make correction or add stuff. If not, I'll write it and make it public if there is interest. Maybe it is too easy to worry about with the OO wizard, but I'm afraid I'll find problems with different stuff like headers, tables (from word), etc. I'm using the official OO doc fo this, but maybe you guys have something less academic and more practical.
