Best smartboard alternative...

2014-09-20 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
Hi.

Smartboards are used in a lot of Norwegian schools. But I do not know
much about the software used with them. Because of this, I was happy
to notice the Slashdot thread on
http://news.slashdot.org/story/14/09/19/2219234/ask-slashdot-alternate-software-for-use-on-smartboards

asking for advice on finding better software.

Perhaps something we can include here in Debian Edu? What do you
think about that? We already got this block in
debian-edu/tasks/desktop-other, but as you can see from the Ignore
tag, they are not installed by default. Should they be?

Ignore: gtkwhiteboard, bluetooth, xournal, wmgui, wminput
Why: Tools useful when creating a whiteboard using a Wii remote.
See http://www.wiiteachers.com/> for example IR pens.

This tool exists but it is not sufficient to wild guess what additional
packages are replacing the ones that vanished.

I'd strongly recommend to spend 3-4 hours on this task.
The Blends logfiles I mentioned in the bug report are sufficient
help to do it properly.

Kind regards

 Andreas.
