You are right, that's why, we are waiting of the decision from the no

Just to clarify if perhaps clear from how Morten phrased it:

We _do_ currently use a common SVN location for development.

What is not (yet?) common across development camps is websites,
mailinglists, documentation and other stuff.

So please create an account on Alioth (if you haven't already), request
on this list that your account be added to the debian-edu project,
and upload your local work to the common repository.

If we decide to reorganize the structure of the SVN repository it
shouldn't be difficult to do later on with SVN.

Please use the SVN on svn.debian.org (with alioth-usernames). As I
said in an earlier email src/french-addon-cd/ might be a good
location.

Do you think it is possible to have a dedicated cvs module in your

We also want to use some scripts to send a mail when a commit is sent to
the repository so that our french server can do nightly builds and so
that our mailing list can receive cvs commit warning messages.

What is your opinion and what solution do you prefer ?

The German Skolelinux team addressed the issue last night at our meeting
in Gütersloh. We are against having too many seperate SVN/CVS
repositories. We would prefer to have a branch for the extra CD on the
Norwegian SVN Server. We should all try to combine our forces concerning
SVN/CVS and Content Management.

We recently formed a task force for Content Management. So far we have
been testing and evaluating different systems (Zope/Plone 2.1, Drupal,
Typo3, Xaraya, Daisy,...). We would like to include your proposals
(Spip,...) and try to find a solution that can last and will serve all
users for a long time. We are especially keen on managing multilingual
content and having the data stored in a way that allows to retrieve the
information in a sensible way from the system in case we want to migrate
one day.

Kind regards

Hi!

First I have to admit that I might have missed some of the emails
regarding the French project to this list. But I have one question
that I hope you can answer to give me a clearer picture of the
situation.

How come you build your own CD, have your own sources for packages and
so on? Isn't it possible for you to cooperate with us on the
Skolelinux-CD, SVN-archives on svn.debian.org and
developer.skolelinux.no, and bugtracker? I believe we would be able to
make a better product if we stoped all this double-work and started
to work in the same direction on the same product.

This is not ment as criticism, but as questions because I probably
have missed the answers earlier on.

I think you/we need more details..

Firstly have a look here:
http://schlossgul.org/wakka.php?wiki=LisTe
This page contains all informations about what is in our second CD, sorry it's
in french so
I will shortly explain what it is..

What we need ?
- After installing the skolelinux official CD, we wants a second CD
which will contains all modifications we want, like an upgrade CD.
- It should be easy to use so, we made a install script for automatic
software installation(additionnal packages which aren't on the
official skolelinux cd), Intranet(Moodle which modification for french
school), Personnalization of home desktop for users(french need too
:),Ldap administration tools(Cipux),Openoffice plugins

This CD was made because every school don't have an internet access to
upgrade skolelinux and install additionnal packages.

I hope we could use a common cvs repository or a new branch of the
official repository so everybody could have easily access to the modifications.

Other good point is that some additionnal learning software are in french
and it would be nice if translation could be made, and become official
debian packages ;)

Sorry for my bad english...

Re: About cvs for french dev.

2005-12-06 Thread Thierry STAUDER
hanks Benjamin for this mail

Let me explain again what we try to do in France

We're builiding a companion CD, a CD number two. Which has to be installed when
the sarge based CD is installed.
The goal of this CD is to adapt our very good work to speficities of education
in france. This CD has now 380 Mo.

- With a lot of free educational softwares: some of can be found for the moment
only in french, we've started with the german team and Abuledu.org to translate
a part of them...
- With an Intranet which uses Moodle.org, We've added to moodle some speficic
modules: the management of the white and black list, which is used for the
acces to internet in french schools (white list = list of allowed sites), a
comptency book, to follow the progress of each student, a lot of documentation
on how to use these softwares but also a lot of pedagogical scenarios. for the
future we want to add a tool for the management of a school...
- With Skels: different desktops made for each education cycle using kde and
windowmaker. These skels are copied in the home of the user at the user creation
time.
- ...

have just a look on http://schlossgul.org/wakka.php?wiki=LisTe to have an idea
about our work.

We hope that all this work will be usefull in the main project.

When we ask for a dedicated cvs module it's for our second CD. We'll, has we do
since the beginning of our work, continue to take part in the main project.
