Bug#570776: squeeze: NFS exports dont work
This issue should be fixed when the new portmap package version 6.0.0-2 enter testing in 4-5 days. The status can be tracked on http://packages.qa.debian.org/p/portmap.html >. We should still consider switching to rpcbind as a replacement for portmap, to get IPv6 support. block 570776 by 571131 thanks [Petter Reinholdtsen] > I suspect this is a problem in the portmap package, but have not > investigated why the preseeding fail. I've now investigated, and the problem is with the portmap package, reported as #571131. I've spoken with Anibal about it, and he hoped to have a fix uploaded in a day or so. Hopefully it will both revert the default to listen to all interfaces, and also to make it possible to preseed the setting. I suspect this is a problem in the portmap package, but have not investigated why the preseeding fail. With the preseeding in place, the content of /etc/default/portmap still make portmap fail to listen on all interfaces. Not quite sure why this is filed against the metapackage and not the d-e-install package. Anyway... [Holger Levsen] > The problem is that portmap only allow connections from localhost, > and this can be changed using preseeding. I believe this preseeding setting in debian-edu-install/base-config/defaults.networked will solve the issue: # Make sure portmap do not only accept connections from localhost # Needed for Squeeze portmap/portmap/loopback boolean false Happy hacking, -- Petter Reinholdtsen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-edu-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". package: education-main-server severity: serious version: 0.842 tags: moreinfo User: debian-edu@lists.debian.org Usertags: debian-edu Hi, quoting http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/Status/Squeeze: "NFS exports do not seem to work when installing main-server+thin-client-server. The problem is that portmap only allow connections from localhost, and this can be changed using preseeding. There is work in Debian to replace portmap with rpcbind. We might want to do the same." Filing with severity serious as NFS is one of the core services of the Debian Edu main server. cheers, Holger signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
