Ah, ok. Maybe then the debian-embedded project should be renamed to debian-arm-embedded ;-) regards, Holger pgpTXbDK5OlD3.pgp Description: PGP signature

Why isnt it an embedded system if it is one? :) We don't need so small libs.. as really embedded system. Fedora had done a OLPC live CD without libs for embeded system and they are using standard fedora packages. It's working thus we don't need to work in that way. > > And the emdebian team is focusing on ARM hardware which is not > > the king of hardware in OLPC. > > So what? There are other embedded archs as well. As the emdebian team says to me, it will be lot of work to support other architecture, and it's lot of very technical things that Im not able to do with my knowledge.. friendly, -- ,''`. Hi everyone, On 4/19/07, Holger Levsen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: I dont understand. Why isnt it an embedded system if it is one? :) We all can agree that it's an embedded system,,, but much more powerful and with better resources than classical ones. > And the emdebian team is focusing on ARM hardware which is not > the king of hardware in OLPC. So what? There are other embedded archs as well. regards, Holger (who still smells doubled efforts..) You smell doubled efforts, i don't smell real efforts at all! We don't have a real plan to accomplished this task and the progress are really small and this can be a big loose for debian. Even there is no straight way to install sugar right now on Debian stable. Come on people! it's time to change this. No ! We had a small meeting yesterday on #debian-olpc about what we will do in the future. And we all agreed that OLPC is quite an embedded system but it's isn't. And the emdebian team is focusing on ARM hardware which is not the king of hardware in OLPC. So it was our decision to open a new project. friendly, -- ,''`. Future of OLPC
Hi, As you know, there is no really OLPC team in debian, and we are quite 10 people having an OLPC board so, it's time to do something.[1] I cc this mail each people listed in [1] Then I contacted the emdebian team [2] if we can join their team to get debian working on this board. There were some answer to my mail and it's really positive. Here is the thread : [3] So, I think we could join the emdebian team. If you want to join, please send a mail to wookey([EMAIL PROTECTED]) with your wanted login and your ssh key. If you think, it's not a good idea or have an other opinion, feel free to tell us.
