Such failures may indicate a significant problem with the package. Usually this is caused by a missing Depends. It may also be triggered if a Recommended or reverse dependency package owning the symlink target file is not yet installed. This type of failure mode needs to be eliminated so that other symlink problems become more visible. In this case, the problem can be resolved by creating a trigger for the target file. See the dpkg triggers documentation[1] and an example on the net[2] for implementation details. This is being filed as Serious because it represents a violation of Policy. Section 8 states Packages containing shared libraries must be constructed with a little care to make sure that the shared library is always available. A link to the log containing the indicated broken symlinks can be found on piuparts.debian.org[3]. Search for Warn: Broken Symlinks to see the failure point. A log showing the broken symlink as an error is appended. The log contains the following broken symlinks: /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-gcj-4.8-amd64/jre/lib/security/java.security - ../../../../../x86_64-linux-gnu/security/classpath.security /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-gcj-4.8-amd64/jre/lib/amd64/libjawt.so - ../../../../../x86_64-linux-gnu/gcj-4.8-14/libjawt.so /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-gcj-4.6/man/man1/javac.1 - ../../../../../share/man/man1/ecj.1 /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-gcj-4.6/man/man1/jar.1 - ../../../../../share/man/man1/fastjar.1 /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-gcj-4.6/jre/lib/security/java.security - ../../../../../x86_64-linux-gnu/security/classpath.security [1] - file:///usr/share/doc/dpkg-dev/triggers.txt.gz [2] - http://www.seanius.net/blog/2009/09/dpkg-triggers-howto/ [3] - http://piuparts.debian.org/sid/broken_symlinks_issue.html -- Start: 2013-07-05 21:24:37 EST Package: libgcj12-dev Source: gcj-4.6 Version: 4.6.4-2 Installed-Size: 6669 Maintainer: Debian GCC Maintainers debian-gcc@lists.debian.org Architecture: amd64 Depends: gcj-4.6-base (= 4.6.4-2), gcj-4.6-jdk (= 4.6.4-2), gcj-4.6-jre-lib (= 4.6.4-1), libgcj12-awt (= 4.6.4-2), libgcj-bc, zlib1g-dev Suggests: libgcj-doc Description: Java development headers for use with gcj Homepage: http://gcc.gnu.org/ Description-md5: 7161f4f8afb8f0860b930120a5520479 Tag: devel::lang:java, devel::library, role::devel-lib, suite::gnu Section: libdevel Priority: optional Filename: pool/main/g/gcj-4.6/libgcj12-dev_4.6.4-2_amd64.deb Size: 765968 MD5sum: 1bea31a802e64c4e4591810131439e1f SHA1: 00f5f9a7e37a9898321b294bd27c2e3a2d65760a SHA256: 885174d7142366e2053f0b1e9aa082067a9aba2e91de5e87dd03b86c922680ba Executing: sudo piuparts --scriptsdir /etc/piuparts/scripts --skip-logrotatefiles-test --warn-on-others --fail-on-broken-symlinks --mirror http://127.0.0.1/debian --tmpdir /var/tmp --arch amd64 -b /var/cache/piuparts/basetgz/sid.tar.gz -d sid --no-upgrade-test --apt libgcj12-dev=4.6.4-2 0m0.0s INFO: -- 0m0.0s INFO: To quickly glance what went wrong, scroll down to the bottom of this logfile. 0m0.0s INFO: FAQ available at http://wiki.debian.org/piuparts/FAQ 0m0.0s INFO: -- 0m0.0s INFO: piuparts version 0.54~201306172307~0.53-14-ge8900a0 starting up. 0m0.0s INFO: Command line arguments: '/usr/sbin/piuparts' '--scriptsdir' '/etc/piuparts/scripts' '--skip-logrotatefiles-test' '--warn-on-others' '--fail-on-broken-symlinks' '--mirror' 'http://127.0.0.1/debian' '--tmpdir' '/var/tmp' '--arch' 'amd64' '-b' '/var/cache/piuparts/basetgz/sid.tar.gz' '-d' 'sid' '--no-upgrade-test' '--apt' 'libgcj12-dev=4.6.4-2' 0m0.0s INFO: Running on: Linux debian-testing 3.9-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.9.8-1 x86_64 0m0.0s DEBUG: Created temporary directory /var/tmp/tmppuPMaV 0m0.0s DEBUG:

The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next dinstall run at the earliest. Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is really needed, please contact them if this should be the case. We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they were closed correctly or should have been re-assigned to another package. Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you have further comments please address them to 796...@bugs.debian.org. Well, I haven't chosen the gnu89 inline semantics. This comes from gmp.h (GMP 4.1). So, that's actually a bug in GMP, which uses this semantics unconditionally with all GCC versions. Fortunately, GMP 4.1 is very old and this has been improved in later GMP versions. see https://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-5/porting_to.html __attribute__ ((gnu_inline)) should be your fix.

Bug#796143: Removed package(s) from unstable
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following package(s) have been removed from unstable: gcj-4.6 |4.6.4-2 | source gcj-4.6-base |4.6.4-2 | amd64, armel, armhf, hurd-i386, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390x gcj-4.6-jdk |4.6.4-2 | amd64, armel, armhf, hurd-i386, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390x gcj-4.6-jre |4.6.4-2 | amd64, armel, armhf, hurd-i386, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390x gcj-4.6-jre-headless |4.6.4-2 | amd64, armel, armhf, hurd-i386, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390x gcj-4.6-jre-lib |4.6.4-2 | all gcj-4.6-source |4.6.4-2 | all libgcj12 |4.6.4-2 | amd64, armel, armhf, hurd-i386, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390x libgcj12-awt |4.6.4-2 | amd64, armel, armhf, hurd-i386, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390x libgcj12-dbg |4.6.4-2 | amd64, armel, armhf, hurd-i386, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390x libgcj12-dev |4.6.4-2 | amd64, armel, armhf, hurd-i386, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390x --- Reason --- RoQA; replaced by more recent versions -- Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug. The full log for this bug can be viewed at https://bugs.debian.org/796143 This message was generated automatically; if you believe that there is a problem with it please contact the archive administrators by mailing ftpmas...@ftp-master.debian.org. Bug#796076: gcc-5: undefined reference errors with extern __inline__ (regression)
On 2015-08-20 13:19:23 +0200, Matthias Klose wrote: see https://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-5/porting_to.html __attribute__ ((gnu_inline)) should be your fix. Yes, this has been fixed in GMP 4.2, but the (very old) GMP 4.1 branch will never be fixed. This is a bit annoying, as for MPFR up to 3.1.x, we claim that we still support GMP 4.1.x, which is true, but this bug makes the MPFR build fail with a misleading error message in configure (we also suggest in the error message to look at config.log, where one can find a bit more about the real reason of the failure, but this doesn't give an idea of what is wrong exactly). I have improved the gmp.h testing in the MPFR configure so that one gets a more meaningful error if gmp.h isn't usable at all (+ mentioning this incompatibility between GMP 4.1.x and GCC 5, in the MPFR 3.1 branch). -- Vincent Lefèvre vinc...@vinc17.net - Web: https://www.vinc17.net/ 100% accessible validated (X)HTML - Blog: https://www.vinc17.net/blog/ Work: CR INRIA - computer arithmetic / AriC project (LIP, ENS-Lyon)
