Package: libgcc1
Version: 1:9.2.1-25
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

hey,

after upgrading some latest packages on sid, i can no longer unlock luks
partition and boot. message:

"Please unlock disk rootfs:
libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread-cancel to work
Aborted"

so i think it's libgcc1 related.
had to chroot to disk from liveusb, downgrade some packages & finally use a
different kernel to boot.
noticed that update-initramfs with libgcc1 1:9.2.1-25 adds file : "Adding
binary /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1" , while libgcc1 version
1:10-20200202-1 doesn't add any libgcc_s.so.1.

also, version from testing includes file /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1,
while sid version uses /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 . libgcc-s1 also includes this file :
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1

let me know if you need anymore info.

thanks,
d.

Package: libgcc-s1
Version: 10-20200202-1
Severity: serious

On systems where /lib is a symlink to /usr/lib (which is the case for
every new buster installation, for instance), it can easily happen that
/usr/lib/$DEB_HOST_MUTIARCH/libgcc_s.so.1 disappears on upgrades. This
happens whenever libgcc-s1 is unpacked before the new libgcc1, because
the old libgcc1 package ships /lib/$DEB_HOST_MUTIARCH/libgcc_s.so.1
which is in the same place, but unfortunately dpkg does not detect that
this means there is a file conflict.

This actually happened to me in a usrmerge chroot, here is the relevant
excerpt from dpkg.log:

,
| # grep libgcc.*1: /var/log/dpkg.log

Fortunately "apt reinstall libgcc-s1" remedies the situation, but if the
system is rebooted before that, the effects could be more drastic (see
#950254 and #950551).

Bug#951086: libgcc1: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1 is missing

2020-02-10 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: libgcc1
Version: 1:10-20200204-1
Severity: important

After a recent upgrade, I get the following error:

zira:~> gcc-4.9 tst.c -o tst
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lgcc_s
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

It tries to open libgcc_s.so, which was previously found at

  /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.9/libgcc_s.so

which is a symbolic link to

  /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1

but this file have moved to /lib.

The usual paths are searched too, so that alternatively, I think that
a libgcc_s.so -> libgcc_s.so.1 symbolic link in /lib could solve the
issue, if acceptable.

gcc-4.9 is rather old, but still useful for testing, and there was
no announce of any change.

In the mean time, a workaround is to add a symlink

/usr/local/lib/libgcc_s.so -> /lib/libgcc_s.so.1

Full build log is at
<https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=gcc-10=ppc64el=10-20200210-1=1581374256=0>

The issue appears to be in debian/rules.conf:

 LIBGCC_BREAKS += cryptsetup-initramfs << 2:2.2.2-3~,

That versioned break needs parenthesis:

 LIBGCC_BREAKS += cryptsetup-initramfs (<< 2:2.2.2-3~),

Thanks,
Andres

Package: libgcc1
Version: 1:9.2.1-25
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

hey,

after upgrading some latest packages on sid, i can no longer unlock luks
partition and boot. message:

"Please unlock disk rootfs:
libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread-cancel to work
Aborted"

so i think it's libgcc1 related.
had to chroot to disk from liveusb, downgrade some packages & finally use a
different kernel to boot.
noticed that update-initramfs with libgcc1 1:9.2.1-25 adds file : "Adding
binary /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1" , while libgcc1 version
1:10-20200202-1 doesn't add any libgcc_s.so.1.

also, version from testing includes file /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1,
while sid version uses /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 . libgcc-s1 also includes this file :
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1

let me know if you need anymore info.

thanks,
d.

Package: libgcc-s1
Version: 10-20200202-1
Severity: serious

On systems where /lib is a symlink to /usr/lib (which is the case for
every new buster installation, for instance), it can easily happen that
/usr/lib/$DEB_HOST_MUTIARCH/libgcc_s.so.1 disappears on upgrades. This
happens whenever libgcc-s1 is unpacked before the new libgcc1, because
the old libgcc1 package ships /lib/$DEB_HOST_MUTIARCH/libgcc_s.so.1
which is in the same place, but unfortunately dpkg does not detect that
this means there is a file conflict.

This actually happened to me in a usrmerge chroot, here is the relevant
excerpt from dpkg.log:

,
| # grep libgcc.*1: /var/log/dpkg.log

Fortunately "apt reinstall libgcc-s1" remedies the situation, but if the
system is rebooted before that, the effects could be more drastic (see
#950254 and #950551).

Hi,

gcc-snapshot FTBFS on hurd-i386 due to missing patches for
gccgo. Attached are the three patches needed for a successful build.
This bug has been reported and assigned upstream, see
https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=93468
but not yet committed.

One thing is confusing:
According to upstream you can report bugs against gcc-10, but not
upstream. However, in Debian you have both gcc-10-* in experimental and
gcc-snapshot in sid. Are these based on the same upstream sources? Or
is gcc-10 release upstream already (I don't think so)?

Attached are the patches created against gcc-snapshot-20200124, and
they will definitely apply also to gcc-10-10-20200129-1, if needed.

Just a reflection: Matthias you are really doing a great job with the
gcc releases (and other too): Cudos!

Thanks!
