well yes: the nscd: cache.c:335: prune_cache: Assertion `dh-usable' failed.
bug still exists on current etch.

actually it just re-occured; i haven't experienced it for a while.
the only notable change on my side was that i did a security-upgrade the day
before yesterday, which - according to the logs - included perl and horde3.
so i don't think this is related.

deleting the db-files in /var/db/nscd/ seems to have solved the problem.

btw, this is the last request that was made when running nscd -d before it 
crashed:
29453: Reloading 10001243920.020425.acesso.oni.pt in hosts cache!
nscd: cache.c:335: prune_cache: Assertion `dh-usable' failed.
Aborted

it crashed 2 times in a row just after this request.
then i deleted the db-files and the problem was gone.

so i guess the db-file was corrupted just at the mentioned host-entry.

service (application crash) via (1) a long string in the out_charset parameter

Hello,

Recent version of libc6 seems to include a libintl that regularly
crashes when gettext is invoked from different threads simultaneously.
This renders gettext mostly unusable on multi-threaded software.

I had been suspecting a bug in VLC and banging my head around, but it
appears that this can be reproduced with code as simple as the piece
above. It triggers a segmentation fault on a very time-dependant basis.
It seems a lot easier to reproduce under valgrind, though I also get
segfaults when run without debuggers:

Hello,

please document getent's exit codes in its manpage. After a short
glimpse at the source of getent I found out following exit codes:

0   Success
1   Unknown database
2   Key not found in database
3   Database does not support enumeration

I don't know though, whether this is complete and correct (please review).

Nevertheless I worked out a patch for the manpage's source file
getent.pod. After applying the patch a subsequent make is needed in
order to rebuild the manpage itself.

Unlike other architectures, on Arm EABI, wchar_t is unsigned int.
thus the default glibc definitions are incorrect:

However the assertion fails on alpha architecture because the value is

This behaviour makes guile-1.8 (version 1.8.2+1-2) FTBFS on alpha architecture.

on alpha. Please change it accordingly if there are any problems with it.

AT_PLATFORM data for ev56, ev6, ev67.  This would allow optional
system-specific libraries in /lib/$platform/ as for other targets.

EV67 is most interesting because libc has special memcpy/memset
routines that do prefetching and cache manipulation, as well as
special str* routines that use new bit scanning instructions.

It would be nice, therefore, to have a libc6.1-ev67 package.
