Oh, it's another Dafydd...but I know him too...:-)

Indeed, this new Dafydd took over Welsh D-I translations of the old (not
so old, indeed) Dafydd...:-)

His mail address is d...@fydd.org (one the the nicest mail addresses I've
ever seen).

Thanks, Daf, for your input and sorry for the misunderstanding.

Bug#628493: perl: FTBFS on kfreebsd-i386: t/op/threads failed

2012-06-10 Thread Petr Salinger

Hi!

I just bisected on past eglibc versions and this is reproducible for me
(segfault 5% of the time) on kfreebsd-i386, up until this version, with
which I can't reproduce the problem any more (10,000+ test runs) :

 eglibc (2.13-22) unstable; urgency=low
 -- Aurelien Jarno Sat, 10 Dec 2011 21:49:03 +0100

The changelog for that version was quite long, but probably these
changes are what fixed this:

   [ Petr Salinger ]
   * kfreebsd/local-sysdeps.diff: update to revision 3763 (from glibc-bsd).
   * add kfreebsd/local-use-thr-primitives.diff to use kernel thr*
 primitives inside linuxthreads. Closes: #639658.

Therefore I'm marking this as fixed in that eglibc upload and I'll try
to let upstream know. Thanks!

IMO, my suggested change (Perl_atfork_reinit) in "Message #54" [1]
still should be aplied by perl upstream. While it might not be problem
for this testcase, the unlocking in forked child is fragile.

Petr

Actually, Dafydd, the point was about the Welsh locale (cy_GB) where
it seems that your name was appearinghowever with that
imaginet.co.uk address.

Seeing your name and knowing your past history, I assumed that the
"Dafydd Harries" who contributed that local was you but maybe I'm
mistaken. After all, "Harries" is a common family namy in Wales and do
is Dafydd, right?

The file says:
title "Welsh language locale for Great Britain"
source "thanks to Dafydd Tomos (daf...@imaginet.co.uk)"

So I assume that (unfortunately) you are not the person who did the
Welsh locale?

Thanks!

Greetings

Indeed, the imaginet.co.uk address is not mine at all.

I hereby licence all of my Debian translations under the GNU LGPLv2 or
later. Is this sufficient?

To the best of my memory, I was the sole contributor to d-i and probably
any other Debian-specific translations.

Regards,

Daf

Point taken -- I'll make sure to include "+x32" somewhere in the version
number on the next build.

Yes, this was meant as a preliminary build to get a working x32 package,
without having to merge all the Debian patches into a new upstream version. I
was more interested in any comments on the x32-specific parts.

Your changes are quite invasive and remove plenty of needed patches or
code. It's fine if your goal is only to get an x32 package, but in that case
please make it clear in the version number.

Bug#555168: Unclear license situation for (e)glibc locales provided by you

2012-06-10 Thread Helge Kreutzmann
Hello,
you are listed as contact person/author of the following locale:

dv_MV

This locale comes with a statement

% Distribution and use is free, also
% for commercial purposes.

Thus it does not allow modification; it is unclear, however, if this
statement was meant as a license.

As discussed in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=555168 this
locale could strictly speaking not be part of Debian which would be a
great loss. (Currently it is allowed pending investigation).

To properly resolve this, I would like to ask you the following
question:

Would you be willing to relicense this locale to a proper license,
e.g. (L)GPL v2 or higher or another free software license of your choice?

If you have any questions regarding this issue, do not hesitate to
contact me (via the reply-to address set).

Thanks for helping to resolve this!

Helge
