Bug#722217: libc6 still badly broken in -97
-97 of libc6 hit testing and so I tried to upgrade my two AMD. NVIDIA computers. The libc6 upgrade segfaulted again in the preinst script and again completely broke my systems. I was able to do the same procedure as I did before by unpacking the package and putting an exit 0 near the top then install the package then do an apt-get -f install. The procedure did indeed fix both computers again. This is really a bad bug. I have several other debian installs and it seems like only the ones using the Nvidia drivers have this problem. As you can see from Jerome's post, others are having this problem. Is anyone looking at this? It seems to me like the severity should be raised given that it totally breaks the system and several people have hit it. You are welcome Jerome. I'm glad I could help. It took me quite a while to get out of the mess the first time. Brent

And what happens without this weird library? I don't know what the library is or what happens without it or even how to get rid of it. It is part of the binary-only nvidia driver. I'm reassigning this bug to the correct package.
