Bug#464977: Bug 464977: unreproducible

2008-03-01 Thread Aurelien Jarno

hi aurelien,

i could run alex's test with no problem, so my memory is fine, too.

the problem occured in a lua binding to iconv, and a few years ago in
php, but i don't remember whether iconv or recode binding

If the problem can't be reproduce with alex's test, it is more likely a
bug in the lua binding. Care to report the bug here instead?

I can't reproduce the bug with the same versions of software (x86,
libc6 2.7-6, linux 2.6.22-3-686 on SMP w/2 CPU cores, en_US.UTF-8 or
ru_RU.UTF-8 locale).

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ echo -en '\xe1\xe2\xe3' | iconv -f windows-1255 ; echo
בגד

I.e., the output contains three characters. So my best guesses, so
far, are:

1) Faulty memory. Please run memtest86 for at least 2 hours.

2) An issue with your shell prompt. Please add "; echo" to your test
command to add a trailing newline.

Are you still able to reproduce this bug?
