Thanks! It looks much better now! gem2deb is already there, so I can
get going with some ruby packaging on hurd.

Actually, I think we are looking for people who can test ruby and more
specifically puppet on the Hurd, as this is a requirement by the Debian
System Administrators for an official autobuilder/porter box.

So if you could test this and report back, this would be very much
appreciated.

Using ruby in hurd

2013-05-24 Thread Praveen A
Hi,

I installed Debian GNU/Hurd 2013 and I would like to congratulate
everyone who worked on this. I have not been trying hurd for some time
and it feels really good to be able to install it with a native debian
installer. I had installed it when we have a linux based installer (I
even provided some qemu images for folks to try).

I would like to use it for some ruby packaging work. I was happy to
see ruby packaged, but that's all I could find. I couldn't find ruby
package in debian-ports.org, it is available on the dvd image. Also I
can't find ruby1.9.1-dev packages. Looks like it broken again.

http://people.debian.org/~sthibault/out_of_date.txt tells me

ruby/ruby1.9.1_1.9.3.194-8.1: Failed by buildd_hurd-i386-bach
[source:out-of-date:calprio{51}:days{74}]

looking further I found

FAIL 2/942 tests failed
https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=ruby1.9.1arch=hurd-i386ver=1.9.3.194-8.1stamp=1362990379

Can anyone check what these test failures mean?
