I thought cucipop was more popular because it does SQL connections? -Original Message- From: John Gonzalez/netMDC admin [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, April 19, 2000 4:34 PM To: Chris Wagner Cc: 'debian-isp' Subject: Re: pop3 server On Wed, 19 Apr 2000, Chris Wagner wrote: At 10:10 AM 4/19/00 +0200, Christian Jannesson wrote: Whats so speciall about cucipop? virtual e-mail recommendations,
Hello, anyone to recommend solution for this? -virtual e-mail domains (one uid, authenticated via ldap or via /etc/virtual/passwd-like-files with per-user or per-group quotas, smtp preferrably based on exim with something like procmail - per-user forwarding and processing of mails. ) as for now I can't cope with quotas. and having ldap-understading pop3 would be nice (one can use ldap authentication via pams, but what about quotas and location of files?) any help appreciated. also, U've been discussing pop3 servers, what about gnu-pop3d and solid-pop3d? regards, Eyck
Re: virtual e-mail recommendations,
Well, i have a perfect solution for you. We are running it for our customers emails. The system is SUPER SIMPLE, and has been working FLAWLESSLY. It does involve, qmail though, and vmailmgrd. Uses maildir which is more efficient as well.. Here are the relevant info: qmail: http://www.qmail.org vmailmgrd: http://em.ca/~bruceg/vmailmgr/ Web interface designed to work with vmailmgrd: http://webmail.omnis.ch/omail.pl?action=about On Thu, 20 Apr 2000, Dariush Pietrzak wrote: Hello, anyone to recommend solution for this? -virtual e-mail domains (one uid, authenticated via ldap or via /etc/virtual/passwd-like-files with per-user or per-group quotas, smtp preferrably based on exim with something like procmail - per-user forwarding and processing of mails. ) as for now I can't cope with quotas. and having ldap-understading pop3 would be nice (one can use ldap authentication via pams, but what about quotas and location of files?) any help appreciated. also, U've been discussing pop3 servers, what about gnu-pop3d and solid-pop3d? regards, Eyck -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. It authenticates with separate password files for each domain. Sorry I don't use any quotas -- but you may be able to do this with Exim. I use Exim with my setup and I have separate alias files for each domain. Also, I do not know ldap. I have information about my patch, setup and Exim configuration at http://www.reedmedia.net/projects/virtualmail/ Jeremy C. Reed http://www.reedmedia.net http://bsd.reedmedia.net
Pam_radius / Cucipop
I'm trying to get Cucipop to work with pam_radius (www.freeradius.org) and only pam_radius. I installed the pam radius module and configured it. It works, but only if the user I'm trying to login as is a user of the system (someone in the passwd file) For ex. this works (robert's in the passwd and waldo's not): foobar:~$ telnet foobar 110 +OK Cubic Circle's v1.31 1998/05/13 POP3 ready [EMAIL PROTECTED] user robert +OK robert selected pass password +OK Congratulations! but this doesn't: foobar:~$ telnet foobar 110 +OK Cubic Circle's v1.31 1998/05/13 POP3 ready [EMAIL PROTECTED] USER waldo +OK waldo selected pass password -ERR cucipop: Invalid password or username (check case) When I check my radius logs I can see that robert was authenticated and waldo never made it there. My /etc/pam.d/cucipop contains only: auth sufficient pam_radius_auth.so client_id=foobar What I want is to have CUCIPOP authenticate only via radius (so users don't have to have a passwd entry.) I'm also trying to get Sendmail to do something similiar (no passwd entry) with LDAP. That way I can have 1 SQL database with all my users and I can turn their accounts off at anytime. Here is a diagram: /-LDAP - Sendmail MS SQL -- Radius/LDAP server (radius NT) --/ \\ \- Billing software \-Radius - PAM - CUCIPOP Someone on IRC mentioned NSS and libc6. I'm using Debian 2.2. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe someone know's a easier way where I can directly hook into SQL elimnating overhead. == Robert H.
