SOCKS
What're my options for forcing a program to use SOCKS when it doesn't expecially want to? I've installed a SOCKS proxy on a machine that's local to another link to draw off the worst of our -- err -- non-administrative activities; firing everyone (myself included) would be somewhat embarassing, so I need a technical solution. It's helping already, since many Win32 programs support SOCKS, but it could do more yet. Techniques that'd work in Linux and/or FreeBSD would be appreciated. -- Asher Densmore-Lynn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Re: Project 2000 on Debian (under Wine) ?
Check out phpgroupware!!! You chould be able to somehow make it interoperable with outlook, at least with manual procedures (maybe write a couple of macros, automatize that too), and at least the contacts could be exchanged (no tasks afaik). This was version 1.03. When I wrote to the support, they said they knew and were coming out with a new version soon. They never got back to me when I had troubles downloading it from Tucows, though :( It couldn't do the calendering in stand alone moue, it needed a WinNT with proxy software installed, and IIRC, it used POP to get the mail. lynx, news.bbc.co.uk, DNS failures
Re lynx failing to follow CNAME I've got users finding that lynx is failing to find news.bbc.co.uk. It happens most of the time, but not always. Seems to relate to the TTL on the A record to which news points. Works fine with mozilla, netscape and wget so I'm thinking it is lynx specific but I suppose it could be something in the way bind caches queries. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and/or suggest a work around? ;; ANSWER SECTION: news.bbc.co.uk. 1556IN CNAME newswww.bbc.net.uk. newswww.bbc.net.uk. 283 IN A 212.58.240.38 cfm -- Christopher F.
