But why not try a GPL software first -- ClamAV?

I didn't take a look at ClamAV yet! I need a stable, proven-to-work solution
which will still work fine under heavy load.

We have been using Amavis and ClamAV for around 4 months with 2400
/Maildir's on a Pentium 111 with 500meg Ram. I am pretty happy with ClamAV
and the virus definition updates are keeping our mail virus free, along
with Amavis of course.

script to mv file ...

2002-12-18 Thread Garry Byrne
Hi all, Could anyone assist with a simple script to mv 'filename.tar.gz'
to 'filename-currentdate.tar.gz' So the script would be able to insert the
current date into the new file name.

Thanks

mv filename.tar.gz filename-`date +%Y-%m-%d`.tar.gz

Hi Cristian,

Thanks for the info, it did the job. Looks so simple now that I can see it.

Converting /home/* from Susie to Debian

2002-10-22 Thread Garry Byrne
We are converting our main mail/web server over from a Susie box to Debian.
Under Susie ownership on /home/client are client.users and the standard
debian is client.client We have around 3000 clients so we will be
adding an extra 3000 groups to keep with the standard Debian client.client
Can anyone see this as a problem? having a large group file?

Thanks
Garry

I was thinking the same thing as you suggested, but I presume the Debian
one group one user policy must have a reason behind it. I guess I am
looking for some pros and con to base my choice on.

Thanks, yes I agree, we have already written a couple of scripts to import
the various info we need brought across.

I've decided to stay with client.one-group. Thanks all who replied, I'll
put Susie to bed now:)
