RE: 2.6 kernel network interface assignment order

2004-01-29 Thread Matias G. Lambert ( OSInet )
Option 1:
Use modules instead of kernel built in drivers. You can setup aliases,
something like
alias eth0 8139too
alias eth1 via-rhine
in /etc/modutils/aliases

Option 2:
Make a script that configure each interface using it MAC address, something
like
auto eth0 eth1
mapping eth0 eth1
script /path/to/get-mac-addr.sh
map 00:48:54:65:AA:AA internal
map 00:48:54:65:BB:BB external
iface internal inet static
address 192.168.0.
netmask 255.255.255.0
pre-up /path/to/internal-firewall.sh $IFACE
iface internet inet dhcp
pre-up /path/to/internet-firewall.sh $IFACE
in /etc/network/interfaces

We are looking for a open source ticketing system. This is to be
 a internal
ticketing system, for escalated queries only, ie; not general tech support
queries. The helpdesk has their own proprietary system they use. At the
moment we are modifying bugzilla to fit our needs, but I was
 wondering what
 other list members use.

RE: Web administration Apache - Virtual domains

Hi Dominik,
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm interested in the code.
If you want to keep your code as open source it would be nice to set up a
sourceforge project so people ( like me ) can contrib to your code.
Thanks again,

Hi Matias,
I'd suggest you have a look at mod_sqlinclude from where you can proceed
to build your own frontend (php+mysql).

I'm currently working on something that's supposed to be a frontend to
apache, exim, spamassassin and proftpd. It's still immature and far from
finished but I could send you the sources (It's basicly php, some bash
scripts a some pieces of C) to have a closer look at it.

I'm very busy at the moment but I'm going to setup a anon-cvs server and
package the whole thing as a debian package - someday ;)

I use webmin, but I need an end users solution.
I found http://www.openisp.net (gpl), but have similar problems than webmin
( not really end user ).
I use qmailadmin ( qmail/vpopmail/ezmlm ), and is perfect, I need something
like that for apache/disk space limit/bandwidth usage
limit/proftp/tinydns/mysql/../.../...
Thanks!

The only free one I know about is Webmin.

Other for-pay ones are Cpanel, Hsphere, and quite a few others. Google is
your friend.

what I'm planning on doing:

have webalizer save extra info in text files (the Dump... directives)
and read those into a db. I think webalizer does proftpd as well. don't

As a small ISP, I need a way to make sure that our systems are running
properly. Obviously, if something goes wrong, I get a notice from the
root mail, however if the mail server goes down, it creates a problem
for this to notify me. I am new to Linux so I would appreciate your
help. Is there a package that I can use to monitor a whole range of
systems remotely? Any help appreciated.
