OT: High Speed Internet Costs

2002-02-19 Thread Matt Fair
I know this is off topic.
For those who run ISP, and got High Speed internet (t-1 and up). What
are your average costs for connection? Installation of the line, and
monthly charge. Who would be the best company/companies to go with.
Thanks,

sf-debian

2001-12-01 Thread Matt Fair

Hello,
I was able to get the sourceforge installed on the site with the
sf-debian package (apt-get install sourceforge).
After I create a project, and then login as admin to approve the project
I get the error:
Warning: LDAP: Unable to bind to server: Invalid DN syntax in
/usr/lib/sourceforge/www/include/ldap.php on line 50

and my apache log is:
LDAP: Invalid DN syntax
additional info: invalid DN
LDAP: Invalid DN syntax
additional info: invalid DN

when I click on the approve button.

Has anyone gotten this error?
I did setup in libpam-ldap (note the .web domains, I have this on my
local LAN):

* LDAP Server host: 192.168.10.2
* The distinguished name of the search base: dc=dev.uprint.web
* LDAP version to use: 3
* Make local root Database admin: Yes
* Database requires logging in: No
* Root login account: cn=admin,dc=dev.uprint.web
* Local crypt to use when changing passwords: crypt

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Re: sourceforge and postgresql

2001-11-17 Thread Matt Fair

After looking into this more I can see that it is my ldap configuration.
I am using slapd.
When I do a dpk-reconfigure libpam-ldap and I set the root login =
cn=admin, dc= ??  What do I put for dc?
If I am using debian.org as my ldap server location would I have
cn=admin, dc=debian, dc=com?
I am confused, after I configured the ldap again I got ldap_bind:
Invalid credentials which I guess means that I got the password wrong.
I went through and reconfigured everything to have an empty password,
and still I got the same thing.
Any ides? I really want to get this to work, and I feel like I am so
close.
Thanks,
Matt

Re: webalizer

2001-10-08 Thread Matt Fair

Hello,
After looking this problem over some more, it seems it just ignores
changes, I removed the webalizer.current file, re-ran webalizer and it
got todays stats, but when I put back my original webalizer.current file
an re-ran webalizer again it doesn't change anything, instead it ignores
129 records. I removed the html file thinking it may have just not
generated the new page, but it doesn't generate any new page either.
The main question here is there any way to force webalizer to read the
records, why are they being ignored?
Thanks,
Matt

Plenty of resources (disk, memory, etc). Seems like a webalizer bug.

I am using Debian Stable with Webalizer V1.30-04 (Linux 2.2.12) English.
I have several websites running on my server using Apache/1.3.9 (Unix),
each site with its own config file. I have a cron to run: webalizer -c
config file each half hour. On October 4th one of my sites got about
20,000 hits and now from the 5th on does not record any records. No
daily stats, nothing. Apache is still recording the transfer logs, and
I manually executed webalizer with the config files, and it runs through
the correctly, but does not generate any NEW stats, nothing past the 4th.

I'm seeing the exact same problem (same version of webalizer but newer
apache). Nothing was changed on the box -- it just stopped working.
Plenty of resources (disk, memory, etc). Seems like a webalizer bug.
First one to figure out the problem speak up. :-)

No APM daemons were found running in memory using 'ps fax' command.
No APM options were sut up in BIOS (afair) and it has set up in

Is /dev/nst0 the correct device to use? Is there a way to test the

linux card

2001-03-14 Thread Matt Fair
Hello,
I'm not sure if this had gone through last time I submitted this.
I need to create a card that when scanned in a credit card scanner it
connects to my server via the phone line.
I would like to have the web server receive information like what
someone purchased, who they purchased from and record that on the
server.
This card isn't a credit card where it completes a transaction, but it
tracks what people purchase and gives them points based on what they
purchase to give prizes away.
Does anyone know where I could find more information, like a HOWTO, or
something that could explain this process in-depth?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

virtual pop login

2001-02-20 Thread Matt Fair

Has anyone gotten virtual email working with linuxconf and sendmail?
My system is set up to sort out the virtual emails, but I cannot log in
to the system with the virtual user.
Each domain has a passwd file, so it looks like when I login, it doesn't
look in those files.
When a user logs in to check their email I would like to have it check
/etc/passwd and /etc/aliases, and if the user/password isn't in their
it will look in the /etc/vmail/passwd.VIRTUALHOST and
/etc/vmail/aliases.VIRTUALHOST files.
I just don't know what to do to get this to work, I have tried
everything I can think of.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,

Re: virtual pop login

Linuxconf gives these users ids and stores the information in
/etc/vmail/passwd.virtualhostname, /etc/vmail/alias.virtualhostname, and
/etc/vmail/shaddow.virtualhostname.
I believe the user is to login with for example netscape or some other email
client, the server would recognize the user by its username and domain. So
you can have a user [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED], both have login joe
but are two separate email accounts.
In order to get this to work, I need to have the system look up those other
passwd, alias, and shadow files. I don't know how to set that up.

I am curious, how does the server (or login program) know which passwd
 files to use?

 Is this with PAM?

 I am guessing, but maybe these "/etc/vmail/ users are mail-only users;
maybe they are not real Unix users (no UID), so they can't log in.

sendmail virtual pop

2001-02-17 Thread Matt Fair

Hi,
I installed sendmail on debian, with using linuxconf to set everything
up for virtual pop account, I am able to send mail to my server and the
message goes into the correct spool in /var/spool/vmail/ DOMAIN/ USER/.
This all works fine, but I am not able to log into my system with the
username/password that I specified in linuxconf. This is because they
are not regular users. All the information is in the
/etc/vmail/shadow.DOMAIN , /etc/vmail/passwd.DOMAIN, and
/etc/vmail/aliases.DOMAIN. Where would I put this information, so when
I login for a certain domain that it pulls up the correct password file
and shadow file, and if it isn't one in the /etc/vmail directory it get
it from the system passwd and shadow.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: exim

2001-01-05 Thread Matt Fair

I enter this:
exim -bd -q30m

and get this in my log:

2001-01-05 22:30:09 exim 3.12 daemon started: pid=21120, -q30m, listening for
SMTP on port 25
2001-01-05 22:30:09 Start queue run: pid=21122

2001-01-05 22:30:09 End queue run: pid=21122

The mail server is netasolnetworks.com, netasol.com is another domain that I
want to use the server for mail. What would I
put here for relay_domains?

I still can't connect to port 25 by telling my local computer:
telnet netasolnetworks.com 25
I get:
Trying 204.73.64.54...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: No route to host

Does this mean that smtp server is not running on port 25? How can I try a
different port? I have no fire wall running so that wouldn't be a problem. The
only thing that I can think might be a problem is that I have ipmasq running on
my LAN, but I doubt that would be. Is there a way to activate this port?
I commented out /etc/inet.d:
#smtp stream tcp waitmail/usr/sbin/exim exim -bd

The thing is that I had it working for a day, then then next day it wasn't
working and I cannot get it to work again.
It is just not accepting remote connection to port 25.
Is there a way to set the port at the command line?

Oh, could someone please email me their /etc/init.d/exim file, I accidentally
deleted it
Thanks
Matt

  here is my exim.conf:
  qualify_domain = netasolnetworks.com
  # qualify_recipient =
  local_domains = localhost:netasolnetworks.com
  local_domains_include_host = true
  local_domains_include_host_literals = true
  relay_domains = netasol.com

Is the domain netasol.com or netasolnetworks.com? If it is the later
then the relay_domains setting you have here would cause it to refuse
 mail to netasolnetworks.com.

remote management

2000-12-14 Thread Matt Fair

I am managing my server remotely using ssh. If my network connection
goes down for some reason, I have no control over it, is there a way
where I could check to see if there is a network connection and then
restart the connection?
Thanks
Matt

RAID 5

2000-11-22 Thread Matt Fair

Hello,
I have 3 10 gig hard rives. There is nothing on any system, would I
create a small partition on one of the drives (for example 100 - 200 meg

Linux partition) to set everything up and use the source to recompile
the kernel? Or do I just go ahead and set up my regular partitions and
then recompile a kernel with raid 5 support? I am just confused with
the first few steps I should take. Right now I have a CD with potato.
Thanks
Matt
