I am using JBoss 4.0.x on Debian with the Sun JVM. Not as a Debian
package, but I just installed it in /opt in it's own directory, using
both the binary tar and the installer version. I used
boss_init_redhat.sh as template for my own /etc/init.d/jboss startup
script. This is actually the only file that is outside the JBoss
directory structure.

Can I use the apps running free Java???

2006-01-26 Thread Joost Kraaijeveld
Hi,

Is it possible to run the following combination of applications on a
Debian AMD64 Etch installation, using nothing but free software (I know
it can using Sun's SDK, because that is what I am running now):

- Java 1.5
- Swing client
- JBoss 4.03SP1 or higher
- Eclipse 3.1.1 or higher

If that is possible, are there (pointers to) any known problems?

That's OK with me. I use Java on Debian for my customers and they insist
on using the Sun JVM any way.

If you need someone to test your Eclipse from a *user* point of view, I
am prepared to do that. It will be in heavy development use, using
several plugins, and a (stock ;-)) Debian Sarge AMD64 distribution.

OK, thanks for the answer.

A backport to a *stock* Sarge would really be nice (to use an
understatement).

Eclipse, SWT browser and AMD64

2005-10-07 Thread Joost Kraaijeveld
Hi,

Is there an Eclipse version for Debian Sarge AMD64 that natively
supports the SWT browser widget or does the FAQ entry
(http://www.eclipse.org/swt/faq.php#browserlinux) still applies?

I am afraid that I need a sollution a bit sooner (today;-)?).

I can install and run the Sun JVM but I cannot install the j2EE sdk:

./sjsas_pe-8_1_02_2005Q2-linux.bin: error while loading shared
libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No
such file or directory

But I cannot find the package for libstdc++-libc6.2-2 in any Debian
package...

Is AMD64 J2EE possible?

2005-08-20 Thread Joost Kraaijeveld
Hi,

Is it possible to develop J2EE applications on an AMD64 using a
(non)free 64 bit environment?

If so, is there a HOWTO or other form of documentation of how to set up
such environement?

TIA

Joost
