libqt2 and libqt2.2 confused?

2001-01-18 Thread John Gay

I realise this is probably qvocabs fault, but.
I tried installing .debs from qvocab for testing for a school project I'm
working on, but it wouldn't install without libqt2. I did an apt-get install
libqt2 then installed qvocab. After I remembered something about conflicts
between libqt2 and libqt2.2. Sure enough, when I logged out of KDE, kdm died and
wouldn't work again. Taking the brave route, I removed libqt2, which removed
most of the kde I had installed, then I installed task-kde. The bottom line is,
I successfully cleaned out all the old KDE1 and got a clean KDE2 install that
worked fine with only a few updates. The down side is qvocab still won't install
without libqt2? I thought libqt2.2 replaced libqt2? I am thinking the qvocab
developer needs to change the dependencies in his .deb file to accept libqt2.2,
but I'm not sure enough. Please forgive my asking, but I just want to get a
better understanding of my system.

Cheers,

 John Gay

knotes problems of old

2001-01-18 Thread Ivan E. Moore II
hey...those of you that noticed the problem with knotes where the initial
note would take up the whole screen and would be black (IIRC)...

remove all the preceeding whitespace in each line of /etc/kde2/knotesrc

it'll be fixed in the next release...but that's a temp fix for ya

you may need to do the same for your local file or kill your local file

Hello,

I found this quirk yesterday. You fix didn't help btw. I did several
attempts to print an Email from kmail.. I toggled it back and forth
several times and FINALLY, I was able to click the 'OK' button. 2.1 is
fun :)

As a workaround you can select print in a file then select again print in
the printer and the accept button will become active.

for ext2 it'll take about that... it takes about 5 seconds to do 10
 seconds to do 5 gigs...

So for you it is normal ? For msdso format, superformat takes about one
minute (format+check), whereas kfloppy takes about two seconds...

You're only creating a filesystem, which is always very fast. Try running
superformat or badblocks in order to check for badblocks (equivalent to the
 check option in kfloppy).

ahh..so the problem is that Verify on doesn't seem to do anything...

hmmm...looks like kfloppy is passing the wrong arg's... atempting to fix..

hey all,

I've been skimming on disk space for a bit now...and was about to announce
my plans to nuke the KDE 1.1.x packages...but I got good news a bit ago...a
new box for me to play with...kde.tdyc.com is getting moved to a new box with
alot more disk space (20 gig drive actually) so expect some downtime in the
next 24-48 hours...not sure exactly when it'll happen.
