I didn't care for yahoo any more and so I got an account with linuxfreemail.com but when I tried to send mail with them I got back a 550 error Relaying denied which oddly enough doesn't surprize me since our dorms IPs don't reverse lookup which are from cox but they don't give us a smtp outgoing mail server. Re: Kmail issue/problem
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 IIRC, Yahoo does a "check-before-send" sort of authentication, so you *should* be able to just check your mail, then send, and have it work fine. That meshes with the "authentication required" message. If that doesn't fix it, then, uh, I dunno :-) On Thursday 07 March 2002 01:14 pm, Dan DeVries wrote: > Hi, > Has anyone else had this problem > before I upgraded to sid my Kmail worked perfect but you might notice I'm > using Mutt to send this message on a different machine. > I can download my mail from yahoo no problem but when I send mail I always > get and I quote > "sending failed > a SMTP error occured > Command MAIL > Response: 530 authentication required for help got to help.yahoo blah... > > The following transport protocol was used > smtp://smtp.mail.yahoo.com:25" > > no doubt before I sent to this list I have been looking for help or fix it > > I remove Kmail and put back the old version 1.2 instead of 1.3 just incase > but the problem persistes. Kmail issue/problem
Hi, Has anyone else had this problem before I upgraded to sid my Kmail worked perfect but you might notice I'm using Mutt to send this message on a different machine. I can download my mail from yahoo no problem but when I send mail I always get and I quote "sending failed a SMTP error occured Command MAIL Response: 530 authentication required for help got to help.yahoo blah... The following transport protocol was used smtp://smtp.mail.yahoo.com:25" no doubt before I sent to this list I have been looking for help or fix it I remove Kmail and put back the old version 1.2 instead of 1.3 just incase but the problem persistes. I looked at FAQ and have tried downloading my mail and then sending whats in my queue, to authenticate but it didn't work. There is an option to store mail and send it after checking/downloading your mail. Again, it downloads my mail but errors on sending my mail. I don't get why it is authenticating to get my mail but it can't send it. Any Ideas, did I miss something? Do you need more information? Note, just in case its yahoo I used Mozilla 0.9.8 and it sent my mail By the way other than this KDE works great and just wanted to say what a great job you guys do. Re: KDE status update
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 I didn't even think of this, but are you using the 2_2_BRANCH of kpilot or current cvs? The reason I ask, is that (unfortunetly!) the 2.2.2 branch is completely broken for most people*. The current cvs compiles and runs fine for both 3.0 and 2.2.2**, and is the only one supported. There are other problems (most of the conduits don't work correctly), but it can at least backup/restore all devices, and actually works for usb devices. I would *highly* recommend using that instead of the old code. In order to compile the new code, do a cvs checkout of kdepim -r 2_2_BRANCH, then rm -fR kdepim/kpilot, and cvs co kdepim/kpilot, all before running make - -f Makefile.cvs. I would be *very* interested if this doesn't compile under gcc3.0 for any given platform. If this isn't a solution, I will try and work with Adriaan to fix the other error, but of course I can't promise anything :( *That is, usb-support is almost useless, most conduits are flacky, backup and restore are iffy **That is a stated design goal for the next release of KPilot, and I am personally the one responsible for making sure it stays 2.2.* compatible :-) On Wednesday 06 March 2002 05:55 pm, Chris Cheney wrote: > On Wed, Mar 06, 2002 at 03:34:06PM -0700, David Bishop wrote: > > What gcc 3.0 issues? The recommends was added to fix an earlier print preview bug. You should find kghostview >= 2.2-0 in sid. Someone's already reported this as a bug since woody only has kghostview 2.1, but I'm not going to change the recommends:. I actually suspect that by the time the new koffice build migrated to woody, kghostview 2.2 would be there already. At any rate, the recommends: is there for a reason, sid is fine and we're just waiting for kghostview 2.2 to migrate to testing. Ben. > Has a bug report been submitted? Excellent work, Chris (and everyone who helped on this). :) 1) What are the dates that you expect the above _uplaods_ to occur on? Is is _safe_ to install those packages before the new uploads are available? (Ie, it won't do any harm to install those packages. Merely, the parts that you mention above that need to be removed will just not install successfully, but everything else in the package _will_ be installed properly, and will be the latest version.) 2) You didn't mention the "kde" metapackage for Sid. What is its status? I.e., when will (when installing from Sid) apt-get install kde properly install the entire kde system? (Or, will there be no 'kde' metapackage?) 3) Until the kde metapackage is available, what is the procedure for installing all of kde that is available onto a basic Sid system? a) Is there an order that must be followed in installing the packages? b) Does one just do: "apt-get install kdelibs kdebase kdeadmin kdegraphics kdemultimedia kdenetwork kdepim kdeutils" c) Which of those packages should not be installed on a base Sid system as of right now? d) If one should wait for an upload before installing some of those packages, will you let us know when they have become available, or, is there a web page or ftp site or apt-get command that we can check to find out if the new upload is availabe? 4) For the packages which you say "needs build", is that something that requires no human intervention to occur? (Ie, we are just waiting for a system that automatically does builds to get around to building those packages?) Thanks. :) __ Do You Yahoo!? Try FREE Yahoo!
