I can't see Load "xfs-tt" . It might solve your problem like it
solved mine...

Maybe you can solve it by setting font-aliases

The cvs version compiled fine.

arts development files? (libarts1-dev)

2002-07-14 Thread Jan Torben Heuer
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi, I recently upgraded to the latest KDE3 packages from geniussystems.

I can't compile KDE Programs that needs the arts development files,
- -
checking for mcopidl... not found
- -
It seems to be in the libarts1-dev package, however there is no suitabel
version available:

Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libarts1-dev: Depends: libarts1-glib (= 1.0.2-0) but 1.0.1-0.1 is to be
installed
E: Sorry, broken packages

Is there any other unofficial package out? Or will it be soon available?

Thanks,

JT

kooka - bug 141363

2002-07-14 Thread Bob Underwood
I finally bought a scanner that will work with Linux (Epson 1650). It works
fine with xsane and xscanimage. However, kooka just doesn't work on this
machine. Someone else reported the exact situation in bug 141383, which has
been outstanding for some time. Will this be addressed in due time or is it
best to upgrade everything to kde3?

If this isn't the appropriate place to ask this question, my apologies in
advance. I do appreciate all the work the packagers do to give us a great
desktop environment.

Re: KDE 3 packaging - bug thread

2002-07-14 Thread Walter Hofmann
I got this while installing KDE3:

Vorbereiten zum Ersetzen von libkscan1 4:2.2.2-6.3 (durch
.../libkscan1_4%3a3.0.2-0_i386.deb) ...

überschreiben, welches auch in Paket kfract ist
Fehler traten auf beim Bearbeiten von:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libkscan1_4%3a3.0.2-0_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Translation: The file
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/16x16/actions/palette_color.png is both in
libkscan1 and in kfract.

I removed kfract and continued. Next error:

 /var/cache/apt/archives/libkgantt0_4%3a3.0.2-0_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Translation: /usr/lib/libkgantt.la is in kdepim-libs and libkgantt0.

I removed kdepim-libs and kpilot. I had to run "apt-get -f install"
because apt-get complained. While this wass running I got a "kcrash"
error message about kbuildsycoca (I was running twm at that time, not my
old kde2). I'm unsure whether this came from a left-over kde2 process or
one of the install scripts. The trace is not very useful:

This message actually popped up a second time while "apt-get -f install"
completed, and three more times while I ran the original apt-get line
again to install the remaining packets.

You need permission to access your cd-rom device, that should be /dev/hdx if
you have an ATAPI cd-rom, or /dev/sdx if you have a SCSI cd-rom. In my
debian, the device is in the group 'disk', so i need to add this group to my
user... or you can change the permissions of the device:

chmod a+rw /dev/hdx

> please cc me, as i'm not in the list

Why you are not in the list? :-/

Ignacio.

problem starting kde

2002-07-14 Thread Eric Aumont
hello,

2 or 3 days ago, you helped me to understand why my X did not
work. Now, it's OK. I installed "desktop environment" with
tasksel. I can lauch gnome, twm too but not KDE. In kde.log I
get the following lines :

(**) Configured Mouse: Protocol: "PS/2"'
(**) Configured Mouse: Core Pointer
(==) Configured Mouse: Buttons: 3
(**) Configured Mouse: ZAxisMapping: buttons 4 and 5
(**) Generic Mouse: Protocol: "ImPS/2"
(**) Generic Mouse: always reports core events
(EE) xf860OpenSerial: Cannot open device /dev/input/mice
No such file or directory.
(EE) Generic Mouse: cannot open input device
(EE) Preinit failed for input device "Generic Mouse"
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Configured Mouse"
(type:
MOUSE)

It seems to be a problem of kde software because X works fine
with 2 other environments. My machine is a laptop Dell C610
and for my X config, I have done as other users of the same
machine do : "/dev/psaux" and "PS/2".

This other information if this can help : with sawfish, I get
just wallpaper and the mouse pointer, but I can do nothing.
With failsafe, I am not used, so I am not sure if it is OK or
not.

Thanks for answer.

Eric
