kpackage 3.0.3 problem and solution

2002-08-28 Thread kosh
When I start kpackage from kde 3.0.3 it complains about my not having
libdb.so.2. I did some searching and found that I needed libdb1-compat.
It would be good if kpackage could be built so it did not need this
library or if it could depend on libdb1-compat.

well, not so much of a solution for me... (using unstable)
i had the same error :

$ su -c kpackage
Password:
kpackage: error while loading shared libraries: libdb.so.2: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory

installed libdb1-compat, and now i get :

$ su -c kpackage
Password:
kpackage: error while loading shared libraries: librpmbuild-4.0.3.so: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory

librpmbuild-4.0.3.so is a part of librpm4, and guess what ? :

# dpkg -l |grep librpm
ii librpm44.0.4-10 RPM shared library

idea's ?

tal.

I installed the kde 3.0.3 debs via apt on sid. KDE comes up fine, but if i
start applications the following error occurs ...

Other Apps crashes too, some apps working ...

Any ideas?

The kpackage I have does not depend on librpm4 or any librpm I removed
then using apt-get remove and it did not complain at all and it still
launches. I have kpackage 3.0.3 from

kdm (3.0.3) not starting

2002-08-28 Thread Tom Adams
Hi all,

I've just upgraded to the new 3.0.3 debs and cannot get kdm to start. It seems
to start X (which flashes for half a second or so), then dies, with an exit
code of 0.

I've verified that X runs by itself and via gdm, but for some reason kdm is
having trouble starting up. An strace doesn't show much except that it loads
a bunch of modules around 100 times, reads some configuration, then
infinitely loops around:

select(256, [1 3 6 7], NULL, NULL, {116, 311000}) = ? ERESTARTNOHAND (To be
restarted)
--- SIGIO (I/O possible) ---

...

select(256, [1 3 6 7], NULL, NULL, {116, 274000}) = ? ERESTARTNOHAND (To be
restarted)
--- SIGALRM (Alarm clock) ---

...

Anyone seen this before? We've been able to repeat this on 2 machines, so my
next assumption is that the packages we have are dodgy in some way.
Everything works fine with the 3.0.2 packages... :(

Cheers,
Tom

AFAIK, the configuration will be preserved (no need to change anything).
But i'd rather back it up before upgrading :).

kspread bug

I've reported this as

If you enter text into a field so that it overlaps the field to the

with arrow keys or enter key.

KSpread segfaults.
Can somebody verify this?

in KSpread 1.2 rc1 running in kde 3.0.7 (3.1 beta 1) this works fine.
