KDE integrated apps freezing up
I'm having some trouble with at least several of the KDE integrated apps. The Home directory browser won't come up at all. Konqueror and kwrite will come up, but when I attempt to open a file in either one it freezes. Any ideas? More info needed? Let me know what to do and I'll do it. -- Chris Goodwin [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'll have enough to do when Martin Loschwitz updates the Qt packages in the way that it took us 6 hours of discussion on IRC today :-/ Then major changes will be ahead of resolving another set of conflicts I guess, but this time we'll get the full Qt set in a way that developers *and* users can work with the stuff provided by Trolltech. startkde mods: ssh-askpass support and better font handling ;)
Hi, FWIW: Appended a patch that adds 3 things to startkde aka kde3: o Prompt just before ksplash for the passphrase of the ssh private keys (tested with a user w/o private keys) o Do this KDE spezific fonts handling only for local displays and not for X-Terminals. It just makes KDE startup slower. It is not related to XF, since my old home-made packages can still display every fonts without problem. If it can help, I found this in my ~/.xsession-errors : Fontconfig error: Cannot load default config file Does anybody know where this problem comes from ? Thanks a lot,

I'm trying to make gpg-agent start on login but this seems more difficult than I thought. Putting an eval "$(gpg-agent --daemon)" into my ~/.xsession does not help. gpg-agent is not running after login. .xsession is executable. Then I tried to put a small Script into ~/.kde/Autostart. Now gpg-agent is running after login, but KDE knows nothing about the GPG_AGENT_INFO variable (tested with Alt-F2 --> env > /tmp/env.log) Any hints on how to make that work? -Marc -- --- Take back the Net! http://www.anti-dmca.org ---

Try grep YACC README.qt-copy ;-) yacc never worked for me. byacc always did. README.qt-copy suggests to export YACC="byacc -d" This, however, doesn't solve anything, but additionally installing the package byacc does. :-) Then again, the make process insists on calling yacc instead of byacc (ignoring $YACC), so I had to change that by hand. Going back to 3.0.5x solved the problem for them. Its still available from the mirrors in .../q/qt-x11-free/ all the best, Robert_L
k3b for woody/sarge using kde3.0.X
Hello! I recently packaged 'k3b' (www.k3b.org) for woody and sarge. Now i wonder if everything's right. May anybody have a look over it, give it a try? The packages are available via apt-get: deb http://www.planet-moll.de/debian woody main resp. deb http://www.planet-moll.de/debian sarge main In both cases the package is called 'k3b'. Note: The packages are not compiled against KDE2, but KDE3.0.5a (resp. KDE3.0.4 for sarge), which are available on ftp.kde.org. Yes sure, you know that... Any suggestions? On the matter of ~/.xsession - If you have a look into cat /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99xfree86-common_start does it say: exec $REALSTARTUP or exec "$REALSTARTUP" ? The latter is wrong but appeared in some versions of XFree shipped with debian AFAIK, but I only have the first one which should work (which is XFree 4.2.1). If that works for you to change this, I'd add that to the README too. I never used 2.2.2 on woody so I don't know what's the specifics there and what ssh-askpass-gnome is. Could you come up with more details and an explanation what ssh-askpass-gnome is ?
