I just saw a note from him on -devel that there are some known issues
with Heimdal that he is trying to work around, and when he is back at
home, he will try to get the newer version done and uploaded. Maybe
hold off on the spam for just a minute longer :)

I think I've fixed that already a week ago. You may need to update (which I
recommend since earlier builds of kdelibs are containing security holes, so
please update to the latest builds, the ones on ktown are identical to the
ones on the KDE ftp mirrors)

kde 3.1 font problem

Just before the fontname there is a second / Is that normal? The fonts are
installed on the correct places. That slash is probably comming from the
fontpath which is:
Font Path:

/data1/home/johnny/.kde/share/fonts/override,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/:unscaled,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/:unscaled,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc,/data1/home/johnny/.kde/share/fonts

In that case the fontpath are not correct in the Xconfig-4 file.
I'will try a adjustment of this file.

Is this a bug?

Thanks for any help

Ok, I solved that one. It was a bit tricky:
KDE wanted to display a warning message, that the sound server could not be
startet with realtime scheduling priority. For the message box a file named
libx11globalcomm.la
was needed, which did not exist on my system. (And caused knotify to fail in
an endless loop) For KDE 3.0.5a it came with libarts1-qt, obviously, but I
purged that package, following Ralf Noldens README

For KDE 3.1 it lives in libarts1-dev. After installing that, sound works well.

I had to mess around with this for a hwile - what are you trying to play?

Ie ogg mp3 etc

I think it was installing the kdemultimedia-plugins stuff that fixed it - I
think you need to log out and in again before it works.

I don't get why it isn't listed as a dependency - I just got loads of
coredumps from it and arts before I installed it!

Good luck,

noatun problems

After installing libarts1-audiofile, noatun still does not work for me. It
simply scrolls through songs added to its playlist without playing them. When

unix_connect: can't connect to server

Yes, it does indeed for the root user. For me as normal user it throws

A rights problem? I am in group audio, if that helps.

How can I capture the text of the error messages in knotify windows? As every

Any log file I could inspect?

problem with konqueror under KDE 3.1

2003-01-30 Thread Jesus Roncero
Hi all,
I just upgraded my system to use the new released kde 3.1 under debian
sarge. I've used the debs (the ones for woody) from one of the kde.org
mirror to install it on my system. Everything went smooth.

I found that accessing this page: http://buzonweb.us.es/servlet/webacc
under konqueror makes it "vibrate". I mean, it renders the page but
starts moving up and down with no stop. I've asked my local group to
check it out and this behaviour was reproduced on their systems.

Does it happen to you? If so, is this supposed to be a bug in this
specifics debs or does it affect other systems?

Under KDE 3.0.5a this didn't happen to me.

Anyway, I'm new to bug reporting and wanted to ask here first. Hope it
helps.

Noatun is now starting, but playing still no sound. There is still no system
sound.
I now get this message:

Updating to 3.1 from 2.2, with woody, is posible, and easier than from 3.0 (al
least for me). I had a lot of problems updating from 3.0, the solution seems
to erase all kde and arts.

To update from 2.2, I just made "apt-get install kdebase kdm"; all run very
nice :-)

Best regards.

That may be due to the libgcrypt version in unstable, IIRC that is 1.1.11
which is incompatible to 1.1.10 and 1.1.12 which is to be used now. I had
some problems using libgcrypt from unstable initially so I switched to 1.1.10
first, then 1.1.12 when it was out to make Ägypten work.

KMail crashes...

2003-01-30 Thread Michael Knigge
Hi,

I've some problems (very annoying problems!) with Kmail from KDE 3.1
(woody). It stalls if I want to read a really big Mail (8.4 MB, via
IMAP4) and after some "klicking here and klicking there" it crashes.

Where should I place a bug-report, detailed description and the
backtrace?

Bye
  Michael
