Re: How to paste Chinese text from Emacs to other X apps in KDE3
I used to be able to paste Chinese texts from Emacs to other X apps until upgrading to KDE3 last year via setting set-selection-coding-system to chinese-iso-8bit-with-esc. I get western characters (ASCII 127) rather than correct Chinese characters when copying Chinese text in Emacs (actually Emacs21) in KDE3.1. P I have the same problem! I solved it temporarily by saving the file P and open it in KWord, which lets me to choose the encoding. But this P is too anoying! I'll be glad if someone can solve this :-) All I know is that here in xcin and icewm and mozilla and emacs21 I can cut and paste and even utf-8 from mozilla becomes big5 nicely in emacs. Maybe it's something I do in http://jidanni.org/comp/emacs.txt I can't see chinese in icewm icons though. -- http://jidanni.org/ Taiwan(04)25854780
little project with snort, kmail, korn, and postfix
hello all, I was wondering what is the correct way to configure things in order to have snort in nids mode which sends e-mail alerts to me which are detected by Korn and read by myself with Kmail. I have configured Postfix to use the Maildir format used by Kmail. Any suggestion ? -- saluti, Mauro On this machine no Windows system survives and LINUX POWER reigns UNLIMITED.
konqueror java support fails
hello all, after many efforts I must say I cannot make konqueror of kde 3.1.1 to use java. I have read the konqueror java faq. I have the debian packages kdejava and kdebindings-java installed, plus j2re 1.4.1 from Sun tar.gz binary installed. Also in Konqueror-settings-javajavascript-path to java executable: /usr/local/j2re1.4.1/bin/ and java globally enabled. I get the following message trying to load a java application: error: java executable not found Any help will be appreciated... -- saluti, Mauro On this machine no Windows system survives and LINUX POWER reigns UNLIMITED.

Re: Problem with printing in konqueror?
Are you sure it's just konqueror, or could it be printing something with lots of images that causes your problem? Try some other apps and see. On Friday 09 May 2003 07:12 am, Tom Badran was heard saying: I dont know if this is know, but when i print from konqueror it just hangs. Works in kmail though. Cant specify when this started as i havent tried to print for ages until yesterday. kde in unstable, updated daily Tom

Ok, kmail with plain text and html messages with/without images is ok, so i guess its not a problem with khtml. Kword is fine for documents containing images, so i guess its not a problem with the image writer. Dont know if this is an upstream or debian problem or if anyone can reproduce. I forgot to mention im using cups btw, and all of this is printing to files (pdf and postscript). Tom

Re: agypten gpg-agent segfaults
FYI something between libgcrypt 1.1.12-1 and 1.1.12-2 broke. so if you run into that problem that is the answer. Re: konqueror java support fails
Hi... Erm... Path to java executable should be the FULL PATH to the java executable, not just the dir it's in! So you'd need: /usr/local/j2re1.4.1/bin/java rather than /usr/local/j2re1.4.1/bin/ Hope that helps, David On Thursday 08 May 2003 20:14, Mauro Darida wrote: hello all, after many efforts I must say I cannot make konqueror of kde 3.1.1 to use java. Re: Problem with printing in konqueror?
Are you sure it's just konqueror, or could it be printing something with lots of images that causes your problem? Try some other apps and see. FWIW, printing for me is also broken across all of KDE. Whenever I open a print dialog the corresponding app crashes. I'm printing via cups. A variant of this seems to be already logged in the BTS, in that if you open the printer configuration in kcontrol and select one of the cups printers then again you get a crash. Ben.
