libkdexparts1 is uninstallable because it still depends on kdelibs3
and libfam0. It needs to be rebuilt against kdelibs4 and libfam0c102
with gcc 3.2, which probably also requires a new upstream version.

Is anyone working on a kdebindings package for KDE 3?

Hmm, I thought Ralf was doing it but I just realized he isn't an official
DD so I will probably do an upload of it once I verify I can get it to
compile.

Thanks,
Chris

I tried upgrading to KDE 3.1.1 in SID today (28 May 2003) by using the
metapackage kde, and it failed. The kdegraphics dependency couldn't
be met. The kdegraphics fails because the kuickshow dependency couldn't
be met, and the kuickshow fails to install because the imlib2 dependency
couldn't be met. Upon investigation, it seems that the imlib2 package
is NOT available in Debian SID at this time. It is listed but just
isn't there!

Is this a transient thing? If not is there a work-around ?

The immediate problem is gone... I found the imlib2 deb on another
machines apt archive, and installed it. Installing KDE from SID then
proceeded normally.

Warning: The imlib2 package was still missing from SID as of this
afternoon. This will cause NEW installs of KDE 3.1.1 to fail until
corrected.

There is one further thing that needs to be considered. Until gcc 3.2 came
along building the Java bits with gcj was not an option. Now we have gcc
3.3 it is a real option, but it will require some work to convert from using
the Sun compiler and run time (which of course are non-free and
non-open-source) to using gcj.

If someone has a working source deb for the Sun compiler and run time I am
happy to give it a go to convert the Java bits to gcj. I talked to Ralf about
this before 3.1 made it into unstable, but then he could not even get the Sun
version from upstream to build properly.

Hi,

Sorry about that. I was explaining someone (that wasn't a name) how to
localize his KDE to Brazilian Portuguese. I supposed he couldn't understand
English. But I should have written at least a note explaining that.

And it will stay gone... A couple days after I uploaded kdegraphics the
imlib author removed imlib2 from sid. kdegraphics will be fixed in the
next upload of the package.

Spell check in kwrite 4.1 - where did it go?

2003-05-30 Thread CRH
Hello,

I'm running KDE 3.1.2 Debian sid. kwrite version is 4.1. I don't seem to
have spell check any more. Spell check plugin works with kate.

Has spell check been removed from kwrite? Is it a bug?

Thanks.

 Try

 for Blackdown Java 1.4.1_01.

Those are binaries of Blackdown Java, which is not what I meant.

I need a debian source package of kdebindings build WITH the Blackdown
or Sun Java, which I will then update to build with GCJ.
