Re: KDE sarge status & kdelibs bugs
> whether the 196222 suggested solution works, This is not a complicated issue. libxml2 was split, meinproc requires parts of it that were moved into libxml2-utils but kdelibs4-dev does not yet depend on libxml2-utils. It is also not complicated to fix. Depends: ..., libxml2-utils This breaks every build that uses meinproc, including most of the KDE packages that I maintain. Sure, I could upload every single source package with an added superfluous build-dependency on libxml2-utils, but somehow it seems simpler, more correct and easier on the buildds just to fix kdelibs4-dev instead. Hmm, that looks like you did not clean up the KDE stuff before compiling, or you're mixing the self compiled QT3.2.0b with the system ones (or do you not have qt installed via apt-get?). This is a real problem, I could not compile kde3.1.2 using a selfcompiled qt (3.1.1 i think), as the uic segfaulted. This was caused by the Qt3.1.1 version that was installed from the package system, the 2 qt-mt libraries somehow struggled with each other when a program loaded them. Andreas -- Don't worry. Re: howto re-install kde
Thanks, Andreas. I figured there had to be an easy way to this, as there is installing with apt-get. KDE sarge status & kdelibs bugs
I'm curios as to the status of KDE as it pertains to a working version going into Sarge. I see that there are a few RC bugs in kdelibs [1]. They are all still "recent" bugs so I'm not concerned. I am curios as to whether 197949 has been seen by anyone else, whether the 196222 suggested solution works, and wondering if anyone has figured out what's causing 196564. It seems that some work is proceeding on kdelibs [2], and that an upload will not likely be made for a while due to the resource requirements [3], is this correct? I hope no one is waiting for the openldap2 one RC bug [4] to be fixed as work is underway [5] to fix that problem and to further test openldap2 to prevent future RC bugs. Using mutt + kmail
Hi, I like KMail for its GUI. I use mutt primarily (because I often read mail remotely via SSH), but I'd like to use KMail when working locally. I realize I'd have to - let KMail recreate its index files each time it starts up, - accept that KMail apparently cannot handle PGP/MIME correctly yet, Anything else? I use mbox files and I don't plan on changing this (with my mail volume, maildir is about 10x as slow when using mutt...) -- Jens Benecke http://www.hitchhikers.de - Europaweite Mitfahrzentrale http://www.rb-hosting.de - Webhosting mit Extras - SSH - Günstiger Traffic

I use Debian Woody with gcc 2.95.4 I compile, after many days, new Qt. But I have many problems with KDE 3.1.2 compiling. The problems are like this: ".libs/dcopclient.o: In function `DCOPClient::applicationRegistered(QCString const &)': .libs/dcopclient.o(.text+0x8809): undefined reference to `static_QUType_varptr' " undefined reference ... Somebody successfully compile and install KDE?

If've had a similar problem last night when I used kscd after a long time again (but did not try kscd as root). I had to create /usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb by hand because kscd refused to start without it. Then kscd crashed until I disalbed remote freedb in the kscdrc config file. Later I could enable remote freedb again and got a crash when I inserted a CD never played with kscd before while kscd was running. Restarting kscd worked this time. Very strange. I had no time yet to figure out when/what why something goes wrong. Achim > > I'm guessing it's a permissions problem, since it works kdesu root, but I > don't really know where to start.
