Might work on other ISO C++ issues as well.

looks like mips takes over 150min to compile kmail.all_cpp.cpp . The gcc
messages above timeout look more like warnings than errors. mips porters
need to retry kdenetwork on a faster mips (reconfig is the slowest afaik)
 or increase the idle timeout.

They should try passing --disable-final to configure to compile file by file.
Slower but better to find out what's going wrong where. I would even pass
that by default as --enable-final isn't supposed to be a very supported
feature anyway and is known to cause problems, so even if it works flawless
on i386 in most cases I wouldn't use it on other platforms or buildd's where
it's very time-consuming to find out the real errors.

X restarts after switching from vt7 to console

2003-08-07 Thread Ralf Baerwaldt
Hi !
When switching from X-Window to Console (Ctrl-Alt-F2)
X-Server makes an automatic restart after a short time
(5 to 20 seconds)and the kdm login screen appears again
on vt7.

How can I avoid it ?

I suppose its a KDE- or KDM-Problem, because it
does not happen via fvwm2.

Installation:
Debian-Knoppix 3.2 (10.Apr 2003)
XFree86 4.2.1
KDE 3.1

A couple of days ago I updated a machine running a pretty stock woody to
pick up security updates DSA-361 through 366. The update to kdelibs seems
to have caused some breakage. Font anti-aliasing stopped working and
Konqueror could no longer display https:// URL's. I fell back to the
.woody.5 version from the archives, but that is missing a couple of
security updates that are arguably more serious than DSA-361.

Has anyone else had this problem, or is it just me? I see a couple of
bug reports but not much mention of this on the mailing lists. The bug
reports I saw were for Intel and I'm on a Sparc so whatever the problem is
it doesn't seem to be arch-specific.

I also have font problems since last security upgrade.
This is on an i386 (AMD) system running stock Woody kde version, but with
XFree86 4.2.1 from http://www.fs.tum.de/~bunk/packages.
I haven't had time to investigate the problem further, but at least i know
for sure that the problem appeared after the upgrade.

Page resizing bug in KDE3.1.3 (Horizontal scroller)

2003-08-07 Thread Anders Ellenshøj Andersen
I saw someone complaing about this in the woody debs from the kde homepage. I
upgraded to KDE 3.1.3 yesterday and now I get it as well.

This affects konqueror and kmail so far.

Pages that are taller than the client area always shows the horizontal
scroller.

This happens because when the vertical scrollbar appears the client area is
not reduced horizontally to account for the missing space taken up by the
vertical scroller. In other words the page is not resized when the vertical
scrollbar appears, and some of it is thus hidden under the scroller which
makes the horizontal scrollbar automatically appear to make it possible to
see the hidden area.

Now this didn't happen in 3.1.2 so wtf??

That happens to me with debian sid. I have an i810 graphics
subsystem. This has happened for months.

How can I avoid it ?

I work around it by quickly logging in as root and running
'/etc/init.d/kdm stop' immediately after switching away from
vt7. This is only useful if I log out of my X session
first.

I suppose its a KDE- or KDM-Problem, because it does not

Right. It seems to be a KDM + i810 problem because, of all
my debian + KDE installations, only the one with the i810
suffers from this.

KDE Tree widget problem

2003-08-07 Thread Andrea Negro
It's more than a week, from a normal upgrade in sid, that I have a broken
KDE. For example, the folder tree in kmail doesn't show the folder's name,
only the lines and crosses (empty names). It's a problem of visualization,
for example in psi the contact list flashes, disappearing when other
windows of the mouse pass over the names. And many other similar problems
in lists and trees.
Any info on this strage behaviour? I already upgraded many times, but the
problem is still here.

Kind Regards,
Andrea Negro

Kopete 0.7-1 don't go online :-(

2003-08-07 Thread Markus Hofmann
Hello all

I've updated my 0.6 kopete to 0.7-1 from
http://kopete.creativa.cl/debian/woody for my woody.

After this update my kopete starts. It also downloads my contact list, but it
doesn't go online. I have done everything what I think that could help.
I also removed an reinstalled my kopete, but the problem is still there.

Does anyone have an idea?

best regards
Markus Hofmann

Ahh thanks. That explains everything. I tried searching the bug database
myself, but I somehow succeded in using a search phrase which steered clear
of each and every duplicate report of this bug. Good thing I didn't report
it.

I can't believe they didn't see this comming though.

I just installed KDE3.1.3 on Sid and now Konqueror crashes every time I visit
that link. It worked in 3.1.2 a few days back.

so long,
Timo

Did you go through settings for each protocol? There have been quite
some chenges.

If we are talking ICQ, you might want to change your password. I had
to change my password to one not containing digits (from another ICQ
program).

Do you have the system tray applet running in Kicker? That's where KPPP's
dock icon goes when online, where you can go to disconnect.

(Of course, I'm running KDE 3.1.3, my memory of KDE 2.x is fuzzy.)
